What is the PBR?

Professional Bull Riders was founded in 1992 by twenty bull riders who each put in $1,000 to break their event out of the wider rodeo program — a bet that produced the sport's biggest television audience, a global tour, a team series, and its own world championship.[1] [2]

Why does it matter?

PBR made bull riding a standalone professional sport with its own rankings, contracts and stars — and its world title is the discipline's defining credential, distinct from the PRCA's.[2] [3]
