Privacy policy

What this site collects, what it does not, and what you can do about it.

Last updated 29 August 2026.

The short version

Brief Sports is a reference site. There is no login, no newsletter and no shopping cart, so there is nothing for you to sign up to and no personal account for us to hold. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people read. We do not sell data, we do not run advertising, and we do not build profiles of individual readers.

What we collect

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google. It sets cookies in your browser and collects information about your visit — the pages you view, roughly how long you spend on them, the page or search that sent you here, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and general details of your device and browser.

We use this only in aggregate, to see which pages are useful and which are not. Google processes the data on our behalf and may retain it under its own policies; you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Server logs

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records standard access logs — IP address, time, the page requested, and the browser's user-agent string. These are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

Email

If you write to us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to deal with it and to keep a record of any correction made to a page. We do not add you to any mailing list.

What we do not do

Cookies, and how to refuse them

The only cookies this site sets are those used by Google Analytics, described above. Nothing on the site requires a cookie to work: if you block or delete them, every page will still load and read exactly as it does now.

You can refuse analytics in any of these ways, and none of them will degrade the site:

Your rights

Depending on where you live — in particular under the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation, and under California law — you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.

Because we hold no accounts, we usually hold nothing that identifies you by name. If you believe we do, write to us at the address below and we will look.

Links to other sites

Every page here cites its sources, and those citations link to federations, courts, governing bodies and news organisations. Those are other people's websites with their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.

Children

This site is a general reference and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the "last updated" date at the top will tell you when.
