What is the RFEBOXEO?

The Real Federación Española de Boxeo is the national boxing federation of Spain. World Boxing lists it under that name as Spain’s member federation.[1] Its site, which calls itself the “Web oficial de la Federación Española de Boxeo”, uses the short form RFEBOXEO for its regional delegations.[2][4] The site covers Olympic-style boxing (AOB/BAN), school and adapted boxing, and professional boxing through a professional boxing committee, the C.B.P.E.[2]

What does the RFEBOXEO govern or do?

The federation issues licences, which boxers can download from its site, and homologates clubs through a “Homologa tu Club” procedure.[2] It selects the Spanish national team for international events; its 2026 news reports the team at the European Élite and U17 championships.[2] It runs official training courses and publishes competition documents, protocols and regulations (“Normativa”).[2] Professional boxing falls to its Comité de Boxeo Profesional (C.B.P.E.), and inclusive boxing to the C.B.A.E.[2]

When was the RFEBOXEO founded and where is it based?

The federation’s history page states that “El 30 de agosto de 1922”, at the premises of the Barcelona Boxing Club, “nace la Federación Española de Boxeo”. It records an earlier Federación Española de Deportes de Defensa Personal, constituted in 1920, and says the 1922 body “puede considerarse el punto de partida de la Federación Actual”.[3] The federation gives its address as C/ Ferraz, 16, 1º dcha., 28008 Madrid.[2]

How is the RFEBOXEO recognised?

World Boxing. World Boxing’s directory of federations lists the Real Federación Española de Boxeo for Spain as a Full Member in its Europe region.[1] World Boxing’s membership page states that endorsement by its Executive Board “is not full membership” and that full membership is then put forward to the Congress for approval.[5]

Earlier affiliation. The federation’s history page records that in 1924 Spain joined the Federación Internacional de Boxeo Amateur, which it calls the precursor of AIBA.[3]

Spanish bodies. Its site displays the logos of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) and the Comité Olímpico Español, together with those of World Boxing and European Boxing.[2]

What does the RFEBOXEO organise?

The federation runs the Campeonatos de España in Olympic-style boxing at Élite, Joven and Junior levels.[2] Its other national events include the Abierto Nacional de Clubes, the Liga4Boxing, the Copa Iberdrola / Presidente, the Boxam tournament and the Memorial Dacal.[2] For school-age boxing it runs School Boys / Girls events, grading (“Grados”) and a summer campus, and it holds a Campeonato de Boxeo Adaptado.[2]

Who are its members?

The federation’s “Federaciones territoriales” page lists the regional boxing federations, from the Federación Andaluza de Boxeo to the Federación Vasca de Boxeo, including those of Aragón, Asturias, the Balearic and Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, La Rioja and the Comunidad Valenciana.[4] It also lists delegations of the RFEBOXEO (“Delegación de RFEBOXEO en”) in Navarra, Castilla-La Mancha, Melilla and Ceuta.[4] Clubs are found through the federation’s club finder.[2]
