What is the NBB?
The Nederlandse Boksbond (NBB), which also styles itself the Dutch Boxing Federation, is the national boxing federation of the Netherlands.[4] Its statutes constitute it as an association (vereniging) with full legal capacity bearing the name “BOKSBOND” (Art. 1.1).[5] Its site presents itself as the official site of the NBB, with “alle informatie over Olympisch boksen in Nederland”.[3] World Boxing lists it as the Netherlands’ member federation.[1]
What does the NBB govern or do?
The federation recognises boxing centres (“erkende bokscentra”), holds personal memberships, and issues licences and grading examinations.[3] For competitive boxing it keeps the competition calendar and rules, licenses competition boxers, and arranges ringside doctors and medical examinations.[3] It runs coach and instructor courses and, under its Topsport section, talent centres and national selections.[3] Under Art. 3.7 of the statutes, it is affiliated for professional boxing with the Benelux Boxing Union and the European Boxing Union.[5]
When was the NBB founded and where is it based?
Article 1.3 of the federation’s statutes states: “De Boksbond is opgericht op acht februari negentienhonderd elf (08-02-1911).”[5] Article 1.2 fixes its statutory seat in Nieuwegein, while its site gives the postal address Postbus 91594, 2509 ED Den Haag.[5][4] The statutes in force were amended by notarial deed on 27 October 2025 in Harmelen, following a members’ meeting resolution of 22 June 2025 in De Bilt.[5]
How is the NBB recognised?
World Boxing. World Boxing’s directory of federations lists the Nederlandse Boksbond for the Netherlands as a Full Member in its Europe region, with Len Huard as president and Ivo Stamps as managing director.[1] World Boxing’s membership page states that endorsement by its Executive Board “is not full membership” and that full membership is then put forward to the Congress for approval.[2]
Own statutes. Article 3.6 states: “De Boksbond is in het kader van het Olympisch boksen aangesloten bij European Boxing en World Boxing”.[5] Article 2.1(d) commits it to the Olympic Movement in line with the rules of NOC*NSF, whose logo its site displays with those of World Boxing and TeamNL.[5][3]
What does the NBB organise?
Article 2.2(a) of the statutes names among the federation’s means “het (doen) organiseren van (boks)wedstrijden, competities, kampioenschappen en (internationale) evenementen”.[5] Its site announces the Nederlandse Kampioenschappen Boksen 2026 and publishes the competition calendar and results.[3]
Who are its members?
Under Article 3.2 of the statutes, “De bondsvergadering bestaat uit de bokscenters en de persoonlijke leden van Boksbond”.[5] Article 4.1 defines boxing centres as associations, organisations and other legal entities with a similar purpose that meet the membership requirements, and personal members as those “die rechtstreeks lid van de Boksbond zijn”.[5] The federation’s organisation is divided into districts (“Districten”), and its documents page publishes annual reports through 2025.[3][4]
