What is the FVG?
The Federación Venezolana de Gimnasia (FVG) is the national federation for gymnastics in Venezuela. It is a different body from the Venezuelan golf federation, which uses the same initials. Its site states that it “fue fundada con el objetivo de promover y desarrollar la gimnasia en Venezuela”, and gives its mission as to “impulsar y desarrollar la gimnasia en Venezuela, promoviendo el bienestar físico y mental a través de la práctica de este deporte”.[2]
The federation lists eight modalities: women’s artistic gymnastics, men’s artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, aerobic gymnastics, acrobatic gymnastics, parkour and gymnastics for all (Gimnasia Para Todos).[1] World Gymnastics lists the “FEDERACION VENEZOLANA DE GIMNASIA” in its directory of unions and federations, under the Pan American union.[6] The Comité Olímpico Venezolano (COV) lists it among the “Federaciones inscritas en el Comité Olímpico Venezolano”.[8] Under the 2011 sports law, national federations are “entidades de derecho privado para la promoción y desarrollo del deporte y la actividad física con alcance y carácter nacional” (Article 48).[9]
What does the FVG govern or do?
The federation’s academy page sets out three lines of work. For athletes, it describes a pathway of “Iniciación Deportiva”, “Desarrollo de Talento” and “Alto Rendimiento”. For coaches, it offers basic courses — “formación inicial para nuevos entrenadores, cubriendo fundamentos de la gimnasia y metodologías de entrenamiento” — followed by Level I and Level II courses, with certifications. For judges, it runs introductory and refresher courses and lists “certificaciones nacionales e internacionales para jueces”.[5]
The rules applied are those of World Gymnastics, which governs every gymnastics discipline worldwide and lists the Venezuelan federation among its federations.[6] Article 49 of the 2011 sports law gives every national federation the attributions to direct and supervise its discipline, issue technical and ethical norms in line with the international federation, exercise disciplinary authority, train human talent, organise its competitions, recognise and proclaim national teams, adopt its statutes and account publicly for its funds.[9]
When was the FVG founded and where is it based?
The federation’s “Quiénes somos” page states that it “fue fundada con el objetivo de promover y desarrollar la gimnasia en Venezuela”, and sets out its mission, a vision of being “la entidad líder en el desarrollo de la gimnasia en Venezuela, reconocida por nuestra excelencia y compromiso”, in its own words, and four values: commitment, excellence, integrity and inclusion.[2]
World Gymnastics gives the federation’s address as Avenida Teherán, Redoma La India, Velódromo Teo Capriles, Instituto Nacional de Deportes (IND), Residencias Mixtas, first floor, Montalbán, Caracas 1020 — an address that names the Instituto Nacional de Deportes.[6] The Pan American Gymnastics Union gives the same address.[7] Both name Zobeira Hernández as president and Nathaly Sánchez as secretary general; World Gymnastics gives the president’s name as Zobeira Hernández Delgado.[6][7] The COV also names Zobeira Hernández as president.[8]
How is the FVG recognised?
World Gymnastics. The directory of unions and federations of World Gymnastics — the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique — lists the “FEDERACION VENEZOLANA DE GIMNASIA”, country code VEN, with the status “affiliate” and the union PAGU, the Pan American union.[6]
Pan American Gymnastics Union. The Unión Panamericana de Gimnasia lists the “Federación Venezolana de Gimnasia VEN” in its federations directory, with its president and secretary general.[7]
Comité Olímpico Venezolano. The COV lists the Federación Venezolana de Gimnasia among the federations “inscritas” — registered — with it, with the handle @federacionvenezolanagimnasia as contact.[8]
Venezuelan law. Under Article 48 of the Ley Orgánica de Deporte, Actividad Física y Educación Física (2011), the constitution and operation of a national federation require the prior authorisation of the board of the Instituto Nacional de Deportes.[9]
What does the FVG organise?
National events. The federation’s 2026 calendar lists the Campeonato Nacional Interclub Niveles Zona 2, a national inter-club championship in the levels programme, on 15–19 July 2026, and gymnastics at the Juegos Estudiantiles in Falcón in July 2026 for the 9–10 and 11–12 age groups.[4] Its academy page frames the athlete pathway from introduction to talent development and high performance.[5]
National teams and continental events. Under Article 49 of the 2011 sports law, national federations organise and direct the competitions of their speciality and recognise and proclaim the members of national teams.[9] It is the federation World Gymnastics and UPAG list for Venezuela; UPAG’s continental events include the Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championships.[6][7]
Who are its members?
Under the 2011 sports law, national federations “están constituidas por los integrantes de las asociaciones deportivas estadales indicadas en esta Ley” (Article 48), and state associations are “entidades deportivas de derecho privado, integradas por los clubes para la promoción de una disciplina deportiva” (Article 44).[9]
The federation’s associations page lists state gymnastics associations with a contact address for each, from the Asociación de Gimnasia del Estado Anzoátegui and the Asociación de Gimnasia Carabobeña to those of the Distrito Capital, Miranda, Lara, Mérida, Táchira and Zulia; the Monagas body is listed as the Asociación Civil de Gimnasia del Estado Monagas.[3] Its academy trains the coaches and judges who work within that structure.[5]
