What is the FIM?
The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme is motorcycling's world governing body — founded in 1904, among the oldest federations in all of sport, headquartered in Mies, Switzerland, with roughly 110 national federations.[1] [2]
What does it govern?
Every world championship on two wheels — road racing (MotoGP and Superbike, run commercially by Dorna and their promoters under FIM regulation), motocross, trials, enduro, speedway, rally raid and e-bike racing — plus licensing, technical rules, safety standards and anti-doping.[2] [3]
Why does it matter?
Licences, championship points and world titles across motorcycling all flow through the FIM — the parallel to the FIA that the site's motorsport page pointed to but could not previously link.[2] [4]
