What is FEVETAEKWONDO?
The Federación Venezolana de Tae Kwon Do is the national federation for taekwondo in Venezuela; the Comité Olímpico Venezolano lists it as the Federación Venezolana de Taekwondo, with the social-media handle @fevetaekwondo, and its own site also uses the short form Feve TKD.[3][2]
It describes its legal form in these words: “La Federación Venezolana de Tae Kwon Do es una Asociación Civil, de carácter deportivo, con personalidad jurídica y patrimonio propio, sin fines de lucro, fundada el 17 de julio de 1984.”[1] It calls itself “el máximo organismo rector de este deporte en toda la República Bolivariana de Venezuela” and “la única entidad legalmente autorizada para representar el Tae Kwon Do Venezolano ante todas las naciones del mundo”.[1] Its stated mission is to “promover, regular y organizar todo el movimiento del taekwondo olímpico venezolano”.[1]
What does FEVETAEKWONDO govern or do?
The federation covers the Olympic style of taekwondo — kyorugi (sparring) and poomsae (forms) — and parataekwondo.[5] In March 2026 it ran a national coaches’ certification and a national refresher course for referees “en Kyorugui, Poomsae y Parataekwondo”, held online with more than 250 participants from across the country and “orientadas a la actualización conforme al nuevo reglamento de la Federación Mundial” — aligned with the world federation’s new rules.[5]
It also evaluates athletes for the national squads: in March 2026 “los mejores atletas nacionales de Poomsae participaron en el Tope Evaluativo convocado por la Federación Venezolana de Tae Kwon Do”, as part of its 2026 national calendar, under the direction of its president, Grand Master Hung Ki Kim.[8] Venezuelan officials work at international level: the federation reported that the international referee José Luis Vegas, a member of the refereeing body of the Pan American Taekwondo Union, officiated at the 2026 US Open in Las Vegas.[7]
When was FEVETAEKWONDO founded and where is it based?
The federation gives its founding date as 17 July 1984, in the same sentence that sets out its legal form as a non-profit civil association.[1] That date is the federation’s own account, and its affiliation to the world and continental bodies is a separate matter. The world federation it names is the “Federación Mundial de Tae Kwon Do” — the WTF, in the federation’s abbreviation — whose present name is World Taekwondo.[1][2]
The federation’s site publishes the contact address [email protected].[2] The COV directory lists the federation with Hung Ki Kim as president and @fevetaekwondo as its contact handle.[3] The federation’s own reports describe Hung Ki Kim as its president and name a technical director of the sports ministry among those attending its national poomsae evaluation in March 2026.[8]
How is FEVETAEKWONDO recognised?
World and continental bodies. The federation states that it is “afiliada a la Unión Panamericana de Tae Kwon Do, a la Federación Mundial de Tae Kwon Do, al Comité Olímpico Venezolano (COV)”.[1] The world federation it names is today World Taekwondo, and the continental union is the Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU); by the federation’s report, PATU’s refereeing body includes a Venezuelan international referee.[7]
COV. The Comité Olímpico Venezolano includes the Federación Venezolana de Taekwondo in its directory of national federations.[3]
Venezuelan state. The federation’s site describes it as “Inscrita en el IND” — registered with the Instituto Nacional de Deportes.[2] Among its stated functions is to “Presentar al Instituto Nacional de Deportes sus planes, programas y presupuestos a los fines del suministro de la asistencia financiera, económica y técnica” — to submit its plans, programmes and budgets to the IND for financial, economic and technical assistance.[1]
What does FEVETAEKWONDO organise?
National championships. The federation organised the Campeonato Nacional Infantil de Taekwondo in La Guaira in April 2026, with more than 200 athletes from more than 20 states; Lara placed first, Bolívar second, and Apure and Trujillo shared third.[4] Its 2026 national calendar also included the poomsae Tope Evaluativo of March 2026.[8]
National teams. As Team TKD Venezuela, its national team competed at the Santo Domingo Open in April 2026.[2] The federation reported that ten Venezuelan athletes qualified in kyorugi for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, which it described as the first stop of the year in the Olympic cycle.[6]
Education. Coach certification and referee refresher courses form part of its annual programme, as in March 2026.[5]
Who are its members?
The federation’s competitions are contested by state teams. The April 2026 Campeonato Nacional Infantil drew more than 200 athletes from more than 20 states, and the federation reported its results by state — Lara, Bolívar, Apure and Trujillo among the placed teams.[4] Its March 2026 coaches’ certification and referees’ course reached more than 250 participants “de todo el país”.[5]
The federation describes itself as the only entity legally authorised to represent Venezuelan taekwondo before the other nations of the world.[1] Its stated functions include submitting its plans, programmes and budgets to the Instituto Nacional de Deportes for financial, economic and technical assistance.[1]
