What is the CBG?
The Confederação Brasileira de Ginástica is the national governing body for gymnastics in Brazil, recognised by the FIG and the Brazilian Olympic Committee. Unusually for a Brazilian confederation, it is headquartered not in Rio or São Paulo but in Aracaju, Sergipe. It covers eight disciplines: acrobatic, aerobic, women's and men's artistic, rhythmic, trampoline, Gymnastics for All and parkour.[1] [2]
What does it do?
It publishes the national technical regulation for each discipline, runs the Brazilian championships and the national calendar, registers and transfers athletes through the state federations, certifies judges, and operates the Esporte Seguro safeguarding channel and an ethics committee. As a Brazilian confederation it is also subject to national sport-governance transparency rules, anti-doping through the ABCD, and the STJD sports-justice system.[1] [3]
How does it select the national team?
Athletes register through their state federation, compete in state and then national championships in the age divisions set by each discipline's technical regulation, and are then named to the Seleção Brasileira by the discipline's technical committee, using results at designated national selective events together with internal observation and selection camps. Henrique Motta, a former Brazilian champion who was the confederation's sports director at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, was elected president in January 2025.[2] [3]
