What is BJJ Heroes?

BJJ Heroes is the biographical and competitive archive of Brazilian jiu-jitsu — profiles of the sport's competitors carrying full medal records, belt promotion dates, and the instructor lineage each black belt descends from.[1]

What does it cover?

Competitors from the sport's founding families to the current generation; results at the IBJJF World Championship, Pan, European and ADCC events; academy histories; and the lineage charts that connect them.[1] [2]

Why does it matter?

Because jiu-jitsu ranks its practitioners by belt rather than by points, and a belt is conferred by a named instructor rather than by a federation exam. Lineage is therefore part of the credential — and BJJ Heroes is the standard place it is documented.[1] [2]
