What is the PDC World Darts Championship?

The PDC World Darts Championship runs from mid-December to early January at Alexandra Palace — 128 players, sets and legs, a crowd in fancy dress, and a final on the first Saturday of the year. Luke Littler retained the title in 2026, beating Gian van Veen for a record £1 million.[1] [2]

Why does it matter?

It is one of Britain's biggest annual sporting events by television audience — the tournament that turned darts into mainstream entertainment, and where the sport's history is written each New Year.[2] [3]
