What is the TTF?
The Türkiye Tenis Federasyonu (TTF) is the national federation for tennis in Turkey. Article 5 of its statute states: “Spor Federasyonu, idari ve mali özerkliğe ve tüzel kişiliğe sahiptir. Spor Federasyonunun merkezi Ankara’dadır.” — the federation has administrative and financial autonomy and legal personality, and its seat is in Ankara.[4] The TTF states its aim as “en kısa zamanda Türk tenisini global arenanın aktif oyuncularından biri haline getirmektir” — to make Turkish tennis an active player in the global arena as soon as possible.[3]
What does the TTF govern or do?
Article 6 of the statute sets out the federation’s duties. They include organising domestic competitions and appointing referees and observers to them, carrying out international activities, developing high-performance athletes, and selecting the athletes and technical staff of the national teams for international competitions, with their preparation and participation.[4]
The TTF states that it serves through its main offices in Ankara and Istanbul, the Ulusal Tenis Eğitim Merkezi (national tennis training centres) in İzmir and Batman, and its “Altyapı Tesisleri ve il temsilcilikleri”, development facilities and provincial representatives.[3]
When was the TTF founded and where is it based?
The TTF’s own history divides its past into periods. From 1923 to 1953, which the page treats as the period of the Türkiye İdman Cemiyetleri İttifakı, tennis was included in the Sportif Oyunlar Federasyonu within the Türkiye İdman Cemiyetleri İttifakı (TİCİ). The page then refers to the “1953 yılında bağımsız bir federasyon olarak yapılanan Türkiye Tenis Federasyonu” — organised as an independent federation in 1953 — and to the federation “2004 yılında özerk yapıya kavuşan”, which gained autonomous status in 2004.[3]
The statute places the seat in Ankara, and was drawn up, by its own text, under Law No. 7405 of 22 April 2022 and the Sports Federations Regulation published in Official Gazette No. 32612 of 25 July 2024.[4]
How is the TTF recognised?
International federation. The ITF states that it has 214 member national tennis associations, and presents its 2026 Membership and Share Register as the full list of its member associations and their membership category.[2] That register lists “Turkiye” under “Class B Members with voting rights”.[1]
Statute. Article 4 of the TTF statute defines “ITF” as “Spor Federasyonunun üye olduğu Uluslararası Tenis Federasyonunu” — the International Tennis Federation of which the federation is a member — and “TE” as “Spor Federasyonunun üyesi olduğu Avrupa Tenis Birliğini”, Tennis Europe.[4]
Turkish state. The statute states that it was made under Law No. 7405 of 22 April 2022.[4]
What does the TTF organise?
Under Article 6 of its statute the TTF organises domestic competitions and ensures their continuity, and prepares and enters the national teams in international competitions.[4] Its site carries tournaments, announcements and news, with a section on international tournaments.[6] Its training network includes the national tennis training centres in İzmir and Batman.[3]
Who are its members?
The TTF works through provincial representatives (il temsilcileri), listed on its site province by province, from Adana, Adıyaman and Afyonkarahisar onwards, each with a named representative.[7] Its site links to a separate club directory.[6] The federation is run by a board for the 2025–2028 term, with Şafak Müderrisgil as president, Hakan Ertürk as vice-president, and further board members.[5]
