What is Svenska Fäktförbundet?

Svenska Fäktförbundet is the national fencing federation of Sweden; its site appears under the name Svensk Fäktning.[3] Under § 1.1 of its statutes it is to “verka för fäktsportens utveckling och utbredning” through training, competition and other activity.[5] The FIE lists it as “Svenska Faktforbundet”, at Box 11016 in Stockholm.[1]

What does Svenska Fäktförbundet govern or do?

The federation sets the rules for Swedish fencing. It publishes competition rules (Tävlingsbestämmelser) in force from 1 December 2025, refereeing rules (Domarbestämmelser) dated 14 August 2024, an anti-doping plan for 2025 and an action plan for its international work.[4]

Its statutes name the general meeting (förbundsmötet) first among its decision-making bodies, and describe the board (förbundsstyrelsen) as the “högsta beslutande organ när förbundsmöte inte är samlat”.[5] Its site lists the board, the nominating committee (Valberedningen) and its committees.[3]

When was Svenska Fäktförbundet founded and where is it based?

The preamble of the federation’s statutes states that it was formed on “27 november 1904” at the initiative of Riksidrottsförbundet, by the separation of RF’s gymnastics and fencing section.[5] The current statutes were adopted in 2011 and revised in 2014, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2024; the federation’s statutes page lists them as last revised by the general meeting of 2024.[5][4]
