What is the KOE?

The Κολυμβητική Ομοσπονδία Ελλάδας (KOE) is the national aquatics federation of Greece; European Aquatics lists it in English as the Hellenic Aquatics Federation.[2] Article 1 of its 2026 statute describes the KOE as “σωματείο μη κερδοσκοπικού χαρακτήρα”, a non-profit association.[3] Its site covers swimming, water polo, open water, artistic swimming, diving, technical swimming and masters.[4]

What does the KOE govern or do?

Article 2 of the statute gives the federation’s purpose as the cultivation, promotion, development and organisation of its sports, and lists among its aims the organisation of competitions, support for member clubs, cooperation with public bodies and the representation of Greece abroad; it also includes swimming lessons and a lifeguard school.[3] Article 3 states that the federation represents its sports internationally in accordance with the applicable regulations.[3] Its site publishes regulations, circulars, results and records.[4]

When was the KOE founded and where is it based?

The statute states that the federation was founded in 1927 under the name «ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΚΟΛΥΜΒΗΤΙΚΗ ΟΜΟΣΠΟΝΔΙΑ ΦΙΛΑΘΛΩΝ», with its seat in Athens, and was later renamed «ΚΟΛΥΜΒΗΤΙΚΗ ΟΜΟΣΠΟΝΔΙΑ ΕΛΛΑΔΑΣ».[3] European Aquatics also gives 1927 as its year of foundation.[1] European Aquatics gives its address as 236 Syngrou Avenue, 176 72 Kallithea, and the federation’s site gives Λεωφόρος Ανδρέα Συγγρού 236, Καλλιθέα.[1][4]
