What is the IBSF?

The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation is the world governing body of both sports — founded in Paris in 1923 as the FIBT, ahead of bobsleigh's debut at the first Winter Games, and headquartered in Lausanne.[1]

What does it govern?

The rules, sled and track standards; the BMW IBSF World Cup and the second-tier circuits; the World Championships; and Olympic qualification rankings — across two-man, four-man, two-woman and monobob bobsleigh plus men's and women's skeleton.[1][2]

Who leads it?

President Heike Größwang of Germany, elected at the 2026 Salzburg Congress — the federation's first female president, after years as its Secretary General.[3]
