What is the MKSZ?
The Magyar Kerékpáros Szövetség (MKSZ), the Hungarian Cycling Federation, is the national federation for cycling in Hungary. It describes itself as a “12 szakágat tömörítő sportági szakszövetség”, a sport federation uniting 12 disciplines, and its site at bringasport.hu presents itself as the federation’s official website (“hivatalos honlapja”).[3]
The European Cycling Union (UEC) lists it as the Hungarian Cycling Federation, with Róbert Ésik as president and Edina Pomucz as general secretary.[2]
What does the MKSZ govern or do?
The federation organises the sport by discipline, publishing current rules on its discipline pages, and its menu links to a licence application page and to an online database (“MKSZ Adatbázis”).[3][5] It also reports on the training of officials; on 15 September 2026 it reported that two Hungarians had passed the UCI trial commissaire course.[3]
Its presidium page lists a president, four professional vice-presidents (“szakmai alelnök”) and four further presidium members.[4]
When was the MKSZ founded and where is it based?
The federation is based in Budapest. The UEC lists its address as Szabó J. u. 3, H-1146 Budapest, and the federation gives the same seat in its notice convening its 2026 officer-election general assembly.[2][6] That assembly was convened for 9 July 2026 at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (Magyar Testnevelési és Sporttudományi Egyetem) in Budapest, under §14, §15 and §20 of the federation’s statutes (Alapszabály).[6] On 9 July 2026 the Hungarian news site 444.hu reported that the federation’s extraordinary general assembly had elected Róbert Ésik as president (“Ésik Róbertet választotta meg elnöknek a Magyar Kerékpáros Szövetség rendkívüli közgyűlése”).[7]
How is the MKSZ recognised?
European Cycling Union. The UEC lists Hungary (HUN) among its 51 affiliated European federations, with a profile for the Hungarian Cycling Federation.[1][2] It describes itself as forming “a liaison between the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the national federations which it represents in this instance”, and states: “Every european federation member of the UCI is automatically member of the UEC.”[1]
UCI. Under the UEC’s statement, the federation’s membership of the UEC follows from its membership of the UCI.[1]
What does the MKSZ organise?
The federation runs national cup series by discipline. Its site listed the Siklós CX, a stop of the cyclo-cross Magyar Kupa near Siklós castle, for 24 October 2026.[3] It also reports on Hungarian teams abroad: in October 2026 it covered the masters track world championships in London (5–11 October), the European road championships in Slovenia, with more than twenty Hungarian riders, and the track world championships in Shanghai (14–18 October).[3]
Who are its members?
The federation’s members are member organisations (“tagszervezetek”), which vote at its general assembly through their legal representatives or authorised delegates.[6] Its 2026 convening notice set the threshold for nominating officers at more than one tenth of the whole membership, stated as at least 16 member organisations (“teljes tagságának több mint egytizede (azaz legalább 16 tagszervezet)”), and provided for officers to be elected by secret ballot where there is more than one candidate.[6]
