What is the ΕΟΞ?
The Ελληνική Ομοσπονδία Ξιφασκίας (ΕΟΞ), the Hellenic Fencing Federation, is the national fencing federation of Greece. Its site carries the line “Copyright © 2026 Ελληνικής Ομοσπονδίας Ξιφασκίας” and publishes its statute under the heading “Καταστατικό Ε.Ο.Ξ.”.[3] The FIE lists it as “Federation Hellenique d’Escrime”, at 2 Misaraliotou Street in Athens.[1]
What does the ΕΟΞ govern or do?
The federation’s home page lists its cup events in foil, épée and sabre for youth categories, and it keeps a ranking of clubs (“Βαθμολογία σωματείων”).[3] Its site has a section for pre-national squads (“Προεθνικές Όμαδες”) and a section of FIE and EFC notices (“Ενημερώσεις FIE/EFC”), and it posts the FIE competition rules (“Κανονισμοί αγώνων F.I.E. updated 2025”).[3]
It publishes its statute, minutes, budgets and accounts in one section (“Καταστατικό Ε.Ο.Ξ./Πρακτικά/Προϋπολογισμοί/Απολογισμοί”), and the composition of its board and committees.[3]
When was the ΕΟΞ founded and where is it based?
The federation’s page of founding members (“Ιδρυτικά μέλη”) names its founding clubs: the ΑΘΗΝΑΪΚΗ ΛΕΣΧΗ, the ΑΘΛΗΤΙΚΟΣ ΟΜΙΛΟΣ ΠΑΡΑΔΕΙΣΟΥ, the ΕΘΝΙΚΟΣ ΓΥΜΝΑΣΤΙΚΟΣ ΣΥΛΛΟΓΟΣ, the ΗΡΑΚΛΗΣ ΓΥΜΝΑΣΤΙΚΟΣ ΣΥΛΛΟΓΟΣ, the ΠΑΝΑΘΗΝΑΪΚΟΣ ΑΘΛΗΤΙΚΟΣ ΟΜΙΛΟΣ, the ΠΑΝΕΛΛΗΝΙΟΣ ΓΥΜΝΑΣΤΙΚΟΣ ΣΥΛΛΟΓΟΣ and the ΠΕΙΡΑΪΚΟΣ ΓΥΜΝΑΣΤΙΚΟΣ ΣΥΛΛΟΓΟΣ.[4]
The FIE’s directory gives the federation’s address as “11742 ATHENES, 2, Misaraliotou str.”.[1]
How is the ΕΟΞ recognised?
International federation. The Fédération Internationale d’Escrime lists the Federation Hellenique d’Escrime in its directory, with Christos Kourousis as president and Athanasios Safaris as secretary general.[1] The FIE states that it has “156 affiliated Member Federations”, and lists five continental confederations that it recognises.[2]
Continental body. The FIE’s directory places the federation under the European Fencing Confederation, for which it gives 50 members.[1]
State. The federation’s home page displays the logo of the Υφυπουργείο Αθλητισμού, the Deputy Ministry of Sport.[3]
What does the ΕΟΞ organise?
Cup events. The federation’s home page listed the first cup events in foil (ξίφος ασκήσεως) for U17 categories at Florina on 19–20 September 2026, in épée (ξίφος μονομαχίας) for U20 at Florina on 26 September 2026, and in sabre (σπάθη) for U20 at Paiania on 26 September 2026.[3] It also lists a Panhellenic development cup in foil.[3]
Its home page also carries the call for the second épée cup for U20, cadet and development categories at Ioannina on 31 October 2026.[3]
International events. The same page has a section headed “COUPE ACROPOLIS 2026”, with the event’s invitation and its individual and team results.[3]
Who are its members?
The federation’s founding members were clubs, listed on its “Ιδρυτικά μέλη” page.[4] Its clubs page (“Σωματεία”) is arranged by area, with entries for Αθήνα, Κρήτη, Κέρκυρα, Θεσσαλονίκη, Φλώρινα - Καστοριά - Πτολεμαϊδα, Πάτρα - Κόρινθος - Ναύπλιο, Μαγνησία - Εύβοια, Ιωάννινα and Σαντορίνη.[5] It publishes a separate ranking of clubs (“Βαθμολογία σωματείων”), and its home page carries an invitation to its ordinary general assembly on 26 November 2026.[3]
