What is the FVG?
The Federación Venezolana de Golf (FVG) is the national federation for golf in Venezuela. It is a separate body from the Federación Venezolana de Gimnasia: the Comité Olímpico Venezolano lists both among the national federations, the golf federation with Felipe Rodríguez as president and the handle @fedegolfvzla.[7]
The federation presents its site as “Sitio Oficial de la FVG dónde podras encontrar todo lo relacionado con el Deporte del Golf en Venezuela”.[2] Its championship regulations are issued by its Junta Directiva under “los Estatutos vigentes en el Capítulo II, articulo 3” — the statutes in force.[4] Its site carries the federation’s national rankings (escalafón), its news, its regulations and the logos of its affiliated clubs, and offers a federated handicap (“HCP Federado”) as part of affiliation.[1] It displays the logos of the R&A and the United States Golf Association, the two bodies whose jointly established Rules of Golf it has adopted.[3][4]
What does the FVG govern or do?
Rules. The federation’s championship regulations state (Section 1.2): “La FVG ha adoptado las Reglas de Golf establecidas conjuntamente por la R&A Rules Limited (R&A) y la United States Golf Association (USGA)”.[4] Its regulations page publishes the related documents: the player’s edition of the Rules, the official guide, clarifications, local rules and terms of competition, and a code of conduct.[3] The same regulations refer to the USGA’s course-rating system, the “Sistema de Evaluación de Canchas de la USGA”.[4]
Rankings and handicaps. The FVG keeps national amateur and junior rankings (escalafón) and regional junior rankings. Points are allocated by tournament category (A, A1, A2 and A3), number of holes and size of field, over a rolling twelve-month period.[4] It issues federated handicaps to its affiliates.[1]
When was the FVG founded and where is it based?
The federation publishes its address as Edificio IASA, Mezzanina 2, Av. Eugenio Mendoza, Urb. La Castellana, Caracas, with two Caracas telephone numbers, +58 (212) 265-4432 and +58 (212) 263-8171.[2] The COV directory gives a further number, +58 212-263.50.43, together with the federation’s social-media handle.[7]
The federation’s regulations are made by its Junta Directiva under its statutes: Section 1.1 of the championship regulations cites Chapter II, Article 3 of “los Estatutos vigentes”.[4] The COV lists Felipe Rodríguez as the federation’s president.[7] The championship regulations in force are the revision of July 2025, titled “2025 Reglamentos Oficiales de Campeonatos y Torneos FVG Revisión Julio 2025”.[4]
How is the FVG recognised?
Rules bodies. The FVG has adopted the Rules of Golf of the R&A and the USGA, and displays both bodies’ logos on its site.[4][3]
COV. The Comité Olímpico Venezolano includes the Federación Venezolana de Golf in its directory of national federations, with Felipe Rodríguez as president.[7]
International competition. The federation enters Venezuelan national teams in continental competition. In September 2026 it reported on Venezuela’s women’s and men’s teams at the Campeonato Sudamericano Pre-juvenil 2026 in Argentina, which ended on 28 September; by the federation’s account both teams finished sixth overall.[6]
What does the FVG organise?
The FVG’s championship regulations govern the Campeonato Nacional Amateur for women and men, the Campeonato Nacional Mid-Amateur (for players aged 25 and over), the Campeonatos Nacionales Infantil y Juvenil, the Campeonato Nacional Interclubes (stroke play) and the Abierto de Venezuela, together with the national amateur and junior rankings.[4] Its site lists the 2026 Campeonato Nacional Infantil y Torneo Juvenil and the 2026 Campeonato Nacional Interclubes, and regional open tournaments such as the Abierto Barquisimeto and the Abierto Valle Arriba.[1]
The federation also convenes club tournaments: on 30 September 2026 it announced the V Abierto de Guataparo Country Club, and on 3 October 2026 it reported the result of the 2026 Caracas Country Club amateur tournament.[5] Players entering are, under Section 2.4, “afiliados a la FVG que estén solventes y sean pertenecientes a los clubes afiliados a la FVG”; foreign players may take part with an official handicap certificate.[4]
Who are its members?
The FVG’s members are golf clubs and the players affiliated through them. Its site displays the logos of its affiliated clubs and offers affiliates a federated handicap.[1] Its championship regulations admit to national events players who are “afiliados a la FVG que estén solventes y sean pertenecientes a los clubes afiliados a la FVG” — affiliated to the federation, up to date with their dues, and members of affiliated clubs (Section 2.4).[4]
Clubs meet as teams in the Campeonato Nacional Interclubes, which the federation stages in stroke play.[4] The federation’s 2026 news covers tournaments at member venues such as the Caracas Country Club and the Guataparo Country Club.[5]
