What it is, and what could not be established
The Federación Venezolana de Atletismo governs athletics in Venezuela. It is the federation of Yulimar Rojas, who won the Olympic triple jump title in Tokyo on 1 August 2021 with 15.67 m, breaking both the Olympic and the world record.[1]
This page records more gaps than most, because the sources genuinely are not there.
The federation's own website returns a database error, and the domain that both South American directories still list as its official site has lapsed and been taken over by unrelated advertising. The federation clearly continues to operate — it appears in the world and continental directories and in the national Olympic committee's list, and Venezuelan teams continue to compete and set records.[2] [3]
Two directories currently name different presidents. The continental confederation's directory names one; the same confederation's other domain, and the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, name another. The documented chronology explains why the record is confused: a long-serving president died in office, an acting president was named in 2023, an elected president resigned in November 2023, and a three-candidate election followed in April 2025 against what the Venezuelan press described as a leadership crisis. A new board presented a 2025-2028 plan in June 2025. The federation subsequently complained to the international and continental bodies that former officers had used its system credentials to register a parallel organisation.[4] [5]
No published selection criteria could be located. What is observable is a practice — the federation runs evaluation meets and a national league, and appears to select from those and the national championship. There is no Venezuelan document equivalent to Brazil's published criteria or Argentina's bulletins, and the name of the Venezuelan athlete licence could not be established.[3]
