What is the FCI?

The Federazione Ciclistica Italiana (FCI), which publishes under the name Federciclismo, is the national federation for cycling in Italy.[3] The European Cycling Union (UEC) lists it as the “Italian Cycling Federation”, with its seat at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Cordiano Dagnoni as president and Gavino Marcello Tolu as general secretary.[2]

The federation’s institutional section is organised into federal contacts, federal structure, documentation, regional committees, insurance, sports justice, anti-doping, and health protection and training.[4]

What does the FCI govern or do?

Championships and national teams. The federation’s site reports on the Italian championships and the Italian national teams; in October 2026 its news covered the national teams at the European road championships in Slovenia and announced the 2026 Italian individual time-trial championships for 24 October at Piasco.[3]

Governance and justice. Its institutional pages carry federal regulations, the “Carte Federali”, financial statements and the composition of its sports-justice bodies.[4] Its Consiglio Federale for 2025–2028 seats the president, three vice-presidents and councillors elected for affiliates, athletes and coaches.[5]

When was the FCI founded and where is it based?

The UEC gives the federation’s address as Stadio Olimpico, Curva Nord, 00135 Rome, with the e-mail address [email protected].[2] The current Consiglio Federale serves the “QUADRIENNIO 2025-2028”, led by Cordiano Dagnoni as Presidente Federale, with Stefano Bandolin as vice-president vicario.[5]

How is the FCI recognised?

European Cycling Union. The UEC states that 51 European federations are affiliated to it, and lists Italy (ITA) among them, linking to the profile of the Italian Cycling Federation.[1][2] It describes itself as forming “a liaison between the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the national federations which it represents in this instance”, and states: “Every european federation member of the UCI is automatically member of the UEC.”[1]

Representation in the UCI and UEC. The federation publishes a list of Italian members of UCI and UEC bodies: it lists Enrico Della Casa as UCI vice-president and as president of the Track Commission, and, under its heading for Italian members of UEC bodies, with the title of president; it lists Cordiano Dagnoni on the UCI Professional Cycling Council, among members appointed by the UCI Management Committee.[6]

What does the FCI organise?

The federation’s October 2026 news listed the Italian individual time-trial championships on 24 October 2026 at Piasco and an Italian BMX freestyle park championship on 24 October at Cesenatico. It also reported the national final of the “Trofeo Coni per il ciclismo” at Ostuni.[3]

Its institutional news of September 2026 reported that the UCI Congress had awarded Italy world championships at Mugello, Castro and Aprica.[4]

Who are its members?

The federation is organised territorially through regional committees (comitati regionali), from Abruzzo to Veneto, with provincial structures for Bolzano and Trento.[7] Its Consiglio Federale includes councillors elected by the affiliates (“Consigliere Federale - Affiliati”), by athletes and by coaches.[5] The federation is in turn one of the UEC’s 51 affiliated European federations.[1]
