What is the WDSF World Ranking?

The official ranking of the World DanceSport Federation, covering DanceSport, Para DanceSport and breaking. Unusually among the rankings on this site it ranks couples rather than individuals, by discipline and age category.[1]

What does it cover?

Standard, Latin, Ten Dance, breaking and Para DanceSport, with competition results and adjudicator data attached. A couple's total is the sum of its six best results over a rolling twelve months — four for Youth — with base points then adjusted for the size of the field, the number of member federations represented among the competitors and among the adjudicators, and the presence of highly ranked couples in the draw.[1] [2]

Why does it matter?

Because it is the only mechanism that makes a judged, subjective sport comparable across events: two couples who never danced against each other can still be placed relative to one another. The rolling window also means a ranking falls as results age out, not only when new events are added.[1] [2]
