What is Mi Diario?
Mi Diario is a tabloid daily published by Corporación La Prensa, S.A. (Corprensa). Corprensa states that its principal activity is “la publicación, distribución y venta de los diarios La Prensa y Mi Diario”.[4] Its products page describes Mi Diario as a “periódico tabloide popular diferente” that “ofrece a sus lectores las noticias que afectan su realidad de manera humana”, with “alto contenido en deportes y de entretenimiento local e internacional”. That is the publisher's description.[3]
La Prensa's page on trust states that Mi Diario “tiene su propia sala de Redacción, dirección y línea editorial”, a newsroom, management and editorial line of its own, separate from La Prensa's.[5]
Ownership. The same page states of the publisher: “Ninguna persona o grupo posee más del uno por ciento del total de las acciones emitidas y en circulación, por tal razón no existe una persona que ejerza control de la empresa”. It gives 1,628 shareholders at 31 December 2020, the most recent count it prints.[5]
What does Mi Diario cover?
As retrieved on 26 September 2026, Mi Diario's home page carried sports items headlined on Panama's draw with India, with the coach Thomas Christiansen taking the blame; Diddier Rodríguez's title in the 3,000 metres steeplechase and Edwin Núñez's gold on the waves, both at the Juegos Suramericanos Santa Fe 2026; Costa Rica's match against Curaçao after leading 3–0; the charges against Manchester City under financial rules; and a further title for Alfredo Quintana. Its sports section sits on the path midiario.com/deportivas.[1]
Athletics. The report lists the silver and bronze medallists and Panama's other medals at the Games up to that day.[2] That was the most recent dated item retrieved from the title; its sports section page did not render when retrieved on 26 September 2026.
National team. On 22 September 2026, also under Humberto Cornejo's byline, it reported that twelve players had begun training under Thomas Christiansen in Bengaluru “de cara al arranque de la gira internacional por Asia”. The report placed the match against India at the Estadio Sree Kanteerava on the Friday, and stated that Panama “enfrentará a Nueva Zelanda el próximo 1 de octubre en Yokohama” and “cerrará la gira el 5 de octubre ante Japón o Ecuador en el Estadio Nacional de Tokio”. Those two matches had not been played on 26 September 2026.[6]
The headlines retrieved cover football, athletics and surfing.[1]
How large is Mi Diario's audience?
No audited readership survey or web audit for Panama was retrieved, so the figures here are the publisher's own.
Corprensa's products page states that Mi Diario has “una circulación certificada de 15,000 ejemplares diarios vendidos de lunes a domingos”, a certified circulation of 15,000 copies a day sold from Monday to Sunday. The page names no certifying body and gives no date for the figure.[3]
La Prensa's page on trust states: “Mi Diario es el periódico de mayor circulación certificada en el país.” That is the publisher's claim about its own title; no independent circulation audit was retrieved to test it.[5] Corprensa's products page gives La Prensa's own print run as an average above 10,000 a day.[3]
No audited traffic figure for midiario.com was retrieved.
Since when has Mi Diario existed?
No founding date for Mi Diario is printed on the outlet's own site or on Corprensa's pages retrieved. Corprensa's products page says of it “Con tan solo 12 años”, but that page carries no date, so no founding year can be read from it.[3]
Corprensa states that the company “fue constituida mediante la Escritura Pública No.11,758 del 19 de octubre de 1979” and began operating in December 1979.[4] La Prensa, its sister title, gives its own founding as 4 August 1980.[5] Neither date is Mi Diario's.
Why does Mi Diario matter in Panama's sport?
Mi Diario is the second daily of Corprensa and, by the publisher's description, one with a high content of sport; it covered Panama's results at the Juegos Suramericanos Santa Fe 2026 as they came in.[3][2]
Its publisher states that it has the highest certified circulation of any newspaper in the country, at 15,000 copies a day; that is the publisher's own statement, and the certifier is not named.[5][3] It is a separate newsroom from La Prensa, with its own editorial line, by the publisher's account.[5]
