What is DUPR?

DUPR — the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating — is pickleball's standard rating system: a single 2.000-to-8.000 scale for every player in the world, created in 2021 by Major League Pickleball founder Steve Kuhn and adopted by USA Pickleball as its official rating.[1][2]

How is it compiled?

Algorithmically, from match results — sanctioned tournaments and recreational play alike — updating after every recorded match, so a rating reflects current level rather than a one-time assessment. Golden Ticket qualifiers, Nationals brackets and collegiate championships all seed and slot players by DUPR.[1][3]

Why does it matter?

In a sport without a long federation history, DUPR is the objective ladder: a player's rating and match log are pickleball's verifiable, dated record of standing, from club courts to the professional game.[1][2]
