What is the U.S. Open Polo Championship?

The U.S. Open Polo Championship is American polo's premier title — contested since 1904 and played each spring at the National Polo Center in Wellington, Florida, at 22 goals. Pilot won the 2026 final — Curtis Pilot with Mackenzie Weisz and Argentines Camilo "Jeta" Castagnola and Lorenzo Chavanne — the team's third U.S. Open.[1] [2]

How does it work?

Teams assembled around a patron and professional players — their handicaps summing to the tournament's goal level — play a bracket through March and April, the U.S. Open closing Wellington's winter season after the C.V. Whitney Cup and USPA Gold Cup. Winning all three is polo's American Triple Crown.[2] [3]

Why does it matter?

It is the title every professional in the American game is hired to win — and the reason so much of the world's polo talent spends winter in South Florida.[1] [3]
