What are the IFSC World Championships?

The IFSC Climbing World Championships are the sport's world titles across boulder, lead and speed, held biennially. The 19th edition — Seoul, September 2025 — crowned Janja Garnbret in both boulder and lead (her ninth and tenth world golds), Lee Dohyun in men's lead before a home crowd, and Long Jianguo in men's speed.[1] [2]

Why do they matter?

Between Olympics the Worlds are climbing's summit — and their results carry the heaviest ranking points on the road to the Games, making a Worlds medal the sport's defining credential outside Olympic years.[2] [3]
