What is the UAF?

The Українська асоціація футболу (UAF), the Ukrainian Association of Football, is the national association for football in Ukraine. It describes itself as “Серце українського футболу з 1991 року” — the heart of Ukrainian football since 1991.[5] Its governing bodies, as set out on its site, are a congress, an executive committee and standing committees, and its programmes include a foundation, women’s football, amputee football and youth development from under-15 to under-21 level.[4]

What does the UAF govern or do?

The UAF selects Ukraine’s national teams, including youth teams from under-15 to under-21, and runs programmes for women’s football and amputee football.[4] Its permanent members include the two professional bodies, the Ukrainian Premier League and the Professional Football League.[6] UEFA notes the association’s infrastructure work, stating that since 2015 it has built more than 2.5 times the number of artificial pitches built since 1991.[1]

When was the UAF founded and where is it based?

UEFA records that a Ukrainian football federation was set up as a self-sufficient legal entity on 6 March 1991.[1] The association itself dates its work to 1991.[5]

The associated members it lists give their addresses in Kyiv, and the association’s site carries a contacts page and its statutory documents.[4][6]

How is the UAF recognised?

FIFA. FIFA’s directory of member associations lists the Ukrainian Association of Football under the confederation UEFA, with Andrii Shevchenko as president and uaf.ua as its website.[2] The UAF states that it joined FIFA in 1992.[5]

UEFA. UEFA lists Ukraine among its 55 member associations.[3] The UAF states that Ukraine joined UEFA in 1992, becoming “частиною європейської футбольної сім’ї” — part of the European football family.[5] UEFA records that Ukraine co-hosted UEFA EURO 2012 with Poland and that Kyiv hosted the 2018 UEFA Champions League final.[1]

What does the UAF organise?

UEFA records that between February and June 1992 the UAF ran its first league championship for non-amateur teams and staged the first Ukrainian Cup, won by SC Tavriya Simferopol and FC Chornomorets Odesa respectively.[1] The Ukrainian Premier League and the Professional Football League are permanent members of the association.[6]

Who are its members?

The UAF distinguishes permanent members — the regional associations, the Ukrainian Premier League and the Professional Football League — from six associated members: the amateur football association, the football veterans’ association, the association for football for people with disabilities, the futsal association, the trade union “Football of Ukraine” and the National Future League.[6] It lists 25 regional associations, covering the oblasts, the city of Kyiv, a joint Mykolaiv and Kherson association, and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol (as listed in October 2026).[7]
