What is the IWUF?

The International Wushu Federation, founded in 1990, governs wushu worldwide — more than 150 national members, IOC-recognized, running the World Wushu Championships in taolu and sanda and holding the sport's places at the Asian Games and Youth Olympics.[1] [2]

Why does it matter?

Wushu's federation route made it one of the most institutionally successful traditional martial arts — recognized, multi-sport-games established, and repeatedly shortlisted for the Olympic programme, though not yet selected.[2] [3]
