What it is
The Federación Colombiana de Tenis is a private non-profit sports body performing functions of public and social interest. It dates to 19 July 1932 and holds legal personality No. 046 of 10 November 1932; its sports recognition from the Ministry of Sport was renewed by resolution in 2021. It reports 20 affiliated leagues and around 155 clubs, though its own site navigation currently lists 26 leagues.[1] [2] [3]
Mauricio Lederman Muchawsky became president in June 2025 after the March 2025 assembly elected the executive committee for 2025-2029. One caution for readers: the federation's own "president" page is out of date and still names his predecessor.[4]
How the national team is selected
Colombia gives the clearest answer of the four to the question "what document proves it."
The statutes provide that the administrative organ shall "choose and designate by resolution the athletes, coaches and delegates who make up the teams representing the country in international tournaments," on the proposal of the technical commission, and confine national-team eligibility to athletes on the register of affiliated bodies who can show continuous sporting activity.[1]
Resolución 004 of 9 January 2026, signed by the president, then sets the criteria: for South American team championships and world qualification, selection on a "best possible team" principle weighing current level, competitive experience, likely opponents, recent form and conduct — with technical opinion from the national director of development, the national coach, the national selector and the technical commission, and the final decision belonging to the executive committee. For the Olympic cycle, Games teams are chosen on ranking, expressed willingness to represent the country, disciplinary record and the captain's technical opinion, always subject to executive-committee approval, and the ministry must be informed.[5]
Junior selection is documented in unusual procedural detail, with a captain-eligibility checklist that includes holding a current national player or coach card issued by the federation, and a process running from a preselection of double the team size, through in-person monitoring and periodic reports, to a proposal of three players that the executive committee formalises.[6]
One gap worth stating: Resolución 004 does not address the Davis Cup or Billie Jean King Cup by name. For those the governing rule is the statutory one — technical commission proposes, executive committee designates by resolution.[5]
