A federation that operates without a public record
The Federación Argentina de Triatlón governs triathlon in Argentina. One naming point first, because it is easy to get wrong: its acronym is FAT, not FATRI — the latter belongs to a Spanish regional federation.[1]
The federation's website is suspended. Its domain returns a hosting account-suspended page, and the world federation's directory has responded by listing the federation's "website" as its Instagram account. It plainly continues to operate — it hosted continental races in 2026 and is due to host more — but its documentary presence on the open web has collapsed.[1]
Its president also sits on the continental executive board, which independently corroborates the name. Its founding year, legal form, election dates, membership figures and achievements could not be verified from any primary source.[1] [2]
No published national-team selection criteria could be located, and no published call-up document. The surviving competition rulebook — hosted, tellingly, on the national government's own domain — is a competition regulation rather than a selection policy and contains no selection chapter. It does confirm that a national ranking exists, used among other things to allocate start positions, though no current table is publicly accessible.[3]
That rulebook does document the licence: "every competitor must hold a current Licencia Federativa in order to compete," valid from 1 May to 30 April, with athletes paying only a pro-rata amount scoring national ranking points solely from that event. Whether those terms still apply is unverified, the rulebook being over a decade old.[3]
