What is the CSCAA?

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) is the professional association of U.S. college swimming and diving coaches. Founded in 1922, it is the oldest organization of college coaches in America.[1][2]

What does the CSCAA do?

Beyond professional development and advocacy for college aquatic programs, the CSCAA is the body that confers the sport's college honors: it selects and publishes the All-America teams in swimming and diving, names Scholar All-America teams for academic achievement, awards national Swimmer, Diver and Coach of the Year honors, and publishes national dual-meet rankings.[2][3]

How are CSCAA honors earned?

All-America selection is objective: First Team honors go to athletes and relays placing in the top eight at the national championships, with Honorable Mention for ninth through 16th — criteria in place since 1985, with All-America teams published since 1924 (men) and 1975 (women).[3] Scholar All-America honors combine competitive standing with grade-point thresholds.[4]

Why does the CSCAA matter?

Because the CSCAA is the recognized selector of college swimming's honors, its designations — All-America above all — are the standard evidence of national-level excellence in U.S. college aquatics, cited by universities, federations and media alike.[2][3]
