What is the ASUN Conference?

The ASUN Conference (Atlantic Sun) is a Division I conference of the Southeast.[1][2]

Members and sports

Members include Lipscomb, Florida Gulf Coast, North Florida, Jacksonville, Stetson, Queens and Bellarmine; in 2026 several football-playing members moved to the new United Athletic Conference under a strategic alliance between the two leagues.[1][3]

Since when does it exist?

Founded in 1978 as the Trans America Athletic Conference; the Atlantic Sun/ASUN identity dates to 2001.[1]

Why does the ASUN Conference matter?

ASUN champions reach the NCAA tournaments annually — Florida Gulf Coast's "Dunk City" Sweet Sixteen remains a March landmark — and the league anchors Division I in Florida and Tennessee's private universities.[1][2]
