What is WP SportoweFakty?
WP SportoweFakty is the sports section of the Wirtualna Polska portal, WP.pl, on the subdomain sportowefakty.wp.pl. The site's page data name Wirtualna Polska Media as its author.[1] Wirtualnemedia.pl describes it as the sports section of WP.pl that “funkcjonuje pod marką WP SportoweFakty”, operating under the WP SportoweFakty brand.[2]
The Euromedia Ownership Monitor's Poland report of December 2025 lists WP.pl under the company Wirtualna Polska, with the main owners given as “Jacek Świderski (12.69%, also Orfe S.A.), Michał Wiktor Brański (12.68%, also 10X S.A.), Krzysztof Daniel Sierota (12.67% (also via Albemuth Inwestycje S.A.), Powszechne Towarzystwo Emerytalne Allianz Polska S.A. (12.08%)”, brackets as printed.[4] The owner's investor pages could not be retrieved, so no later ownership record is given here.
What does WP SportoweFakty cover?
On 25 September 2026 the site's navigation listed football, tennis, volleyball, speedway, betting, combat sports, video, handball, basketball, motor sport, athletics, esports, mountaineering, canoeing, cycling, mountain biking, American football, swimming, rugby, snooker, the Polska Liga Żeglarska, fencing, table tennis, rowing, sailing and winter sports.[1]
Its top items that day concerned the men's national volleyball team's European championship semi-final against Slovenia, which was in progress; a UEFA Nations League match between Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina at the PGE Narodowy; and an item headlined “Kowalczyk ostro o aferze w PZPN”. The volleyball preview ran under the headline “Słoweńska pułapka. Pięć przestróg dla Polski przed meczem o finał”, five warnings for Poland before the match for a place in the final.[1] Those are one day's items.
How large is WP SportoweFakty's audience?
Web audiences in Poland are measured by Mediapanel, run by Gemius and Polskie Badania Internetu. The figures here are as trade titles reported them, and one condition applies to all recent ones.
Wirtualnemedia.pl states: “Wirtualna Polska z końcem 2024 roku zrezygnowała w Mediapanelu z audytu, w konsekwencji czego jej witryny i aplikacje od stycznia br. notują w badaniu znacząco niższe wyniki niż poprzednio.” That is, Wirtualna Polska gave up the Mediapanel audit at the end of 2024, and since January its sites and apps have recorded significantly lower results in the survey than before.[2]
On that basis, Wirtualnemedia.pl reported for May 2026 that WP.pl's sport section “w zeszłym miesiącu zanotował 4,29 mln użytkowników”, 4.29 million users. Its table, sourced to Gemius/PBI, gives WP 4,286,358 users and a reach of 14.41 per cent, beside Interia at 4,197,420 users, and the report's headline opens “W sporcie WP tuż nad Interią”, WP just above Interia in sport.[2] For the FIFA World Cup period, 11 June to 19 July 2026, it reported 5,216,562 users of WP.pl's sport section, a reach of 17.28 per cent, each spending on average 27 minutes and 53 seconds, against 4,820,958 users from 11 April to 19 May 2026.[3] Before the withdrawal, Press.pl reported on 14 February 2022 that in January 2022 Sportowefakty.wp.pl had 8.72 million users, 11.34 per cent more than in December 2021, and placed it first among the sports services it listed that month, ahead of Sport.onet.pl at 7.80 million and Sport.pl at 7.59 million.[5] Each figure is a reading of one period, and the 2022 and 2026 figures were measured on different audit terms.
Since when has WP SportoweFakty existed?
No founding date was retrieved: the site's own pages that were read give none, and the owner's investor pages could not be retrieved.[1] The earliest dated record retrieved is Press.pl's report of Mediapanel data for January 2022, which names the service as Sportowefakty.wp.pl.[5] By May 2026 Wirtualnemedia.pl was describing it under the brand WP SportoweFakty.[2]
Why does WP SportoweFakty matter in Poland's sport?
It is the sports section of a general national portal. In the Mediapanel data Wirtualnemedia.pl reported for May 2026 it recorded 4.29 million users under the audit condition set out above, and in the World Cup period 5,216,562; those figures sit beside those of the sports sections of Onet and Interia in the same tables.[2][3] Its navigation covers a wider range of sports than football, including speedway, rowing, sailing and a sailing league.[1]
The Media Pluralism Monitor's Poland 2026 page, on the market it sits in, states: “The Market Plurality area scored within the medium-high risk band.” It adds: “Media ownership transparency potentially faces a major change with a planned establishment of a national media ownership database under the new media bill (Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, 2025).”[6] That is the monitoring body's characterisation, and it does not name WP SportoweFakty.
