What is TV Klan?
TV Klan is a national commercial television broadcaster in Albania. The Autoriteti i Mediave Audiovizive's list of audiovisual providers, dated 10 September 2026, gives Shoqeria “TV Klan” Sh.a. with a national licence.[1] The regulator's ownership page for the company records, “sipas QKB”, Aleksandër Frangaj with 60% and Alba Gina with 40%, both held directly; the page was last modified on 24 February 2025.[2]
The Media Ownership Monitor Albania describes TV Klan JSC as part of the Klan Group and records the same 60–40 split within the Frangaj family, with information current to 21 July 2023.[3] The Media Pluralism Monitor 2026 states: “The largest groups include Klan, owned by the Frangaj family; Top Media, owned by the Hoxha family; and Media Vizion, owned by the Dulaku brothers.”[4]
What does TV Klan cover?
TV Klan is a general channel, and its documented sport output is event-led. For the 2026 FIFA World Cup it announced on 9 June 2026 “Transmetim ekskluziv në Klan, Klan Plus, Klan Sport 1 dhe Klan Sport 2”. It stated that the tournament would be shown “ekskluzivisht në transmetimin tokësor në kanalet TV Klan dhe Klan Plus”, and that Klan Sport 1 and Klan Sport 2 would be available on both the DigitAlb and Tring platforms. The same article stated: “Nga ndeshja hapëse, të enjten më 11 qershor e deri te finalja e madhe më 19 korrik, të gjitha emocionet e Botërorit vijnë falas për publikun shqiptar në platformën kombëtare TV Klan.”[5] The tournament ended on 19 July 2026, and the rights statement concerns that edition only.
Around the matches it ran two studio programmes. Its announcement of 10 June 2026 names L'Amerika, presented by Lenida Halilaj before and after each match, and Kampionët e Botës, an evening programme presented by Marina Vjollca, and states: “I gjithë spektakli nga SHBA-të, Meksika dhe Kanadaja do të transmetohet falas për të gjithë, nga veriu në jugun e Shqipërisë.”[6]
Outside sport, the Media Ownership Monitor lists political programming including Opinion, entertainment shows, and news through Klan News and Klan Plus.[3]
How large is TV Klan's audience?
No audited audience figure could be retrieved. The Media Pluralism Monitor 2026 states: “Although work with industry has begun to establish an audience-measurement tool for television, Albania still lacks an official and transparent mechanism.”[4] The Media Ownership Monitor's entry for TV Klan carries an audience-share field for 8 May 2022 to 8 May 2023, attributed to Idra Media, with no figure printed.[3] No viewing figure for the 2026 World Cup broadcasts was found in TV Klan's own announcements.
The available measure is revenue. Monitor, in an analysis published on 7 August 2026 from financial statements filed with the National Business Center, gives TV Klan revenue of 2.3 billion lekë for 2025, up 3.2%, and profit of 484 million lekë. It puts the revenue of the ten main stations at about 6.8 billion lekë and states that TV Klan and Top Channel took “të dyja së bashku 63% të tregut në 2025-n”.[7] That is one secondary analysis, and it measures money, not viewers.
Reporters Without Borders lists TV Klan among the “major media outlets” in its 2026 description of the Albanian media landscape.[8]
Since when has TV Klan existed?
The Media Ownership Monitor Albania gives October 1997 as the launch of TV Klan, with information current to TV Klan's reply of 21 July 2023 to an information request.[3] That rests on the monitor's record; no founding date was retrieved from the broadcaster's own pages, and none is adopted here.
The ownership record is later. The regulator's page naming Aleksandër Frangaj and Alba Gina as beneficial owners was last modified on 24 February 2025, and the regulator's list of 10 September 2026 still gives the company under the same name and licence.[2][1] The dedicated sport channels Klan Sport 1 and Klan Sport 2 are named in the broadcaster's announcement of 9 June 2026; their launch date was not found.[5]
Why does TV Klan matter in Albania's sport?
It announced coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Albania free to air, on terms it described as exclusive, from the opening match on 11 June to the final on 19 July 2026.[5] Its two dedicated studio programmes ran alongside.[6]
It reaches the pay platforms of both main operators. By its own statement, Klan Sport 1 and Klan Sport 2 are carried on DigitAlb and on Tring.[5] Alba Gina, whom the regulator records as a 40% owner of TV Klan, is also listed by the regulator as a direct shareholder of Digit-Alb sh.a., with 8%.[2][9]
Ownership concentration is recorded by the monitoring bodies. Reporters Without Borders states that “The most influential Albanian private-sector media are owned by a handful of companies that have links to the political world in highly regulated sectors such as construction.”[8] Those are RSF's words.
