What is TNT Sports Chile?

TNT Sports Chile is the television operation that holds the audiovisual rights to the competitions of the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional. The broadcaster's own statement, reported by Diario Financiero on 24 May 2023, is that it held the audiovisual and transmission rights to the first division, the Ascenso and the Copa Chile “en cualquier país del mundo” through 2033, and that it is “por cumplir siempre todos sus compromisos legales, bajo altos estándares profesionales y ceñido a la legislación vigente”.[1] Both are the company's own statements.

Its corporate position is identified through a named officer rather than a corporate page: in the announcement of 22 January 2026 of a free-to-air agreement, Canal 13 quotes Gustavo Minaker as Country Manager de WBD Chile speaking for TNT Sports, and states that the alliance “viene a complementar ese trabajo, ampliando audiencias y fortaleciendo la visibilidad del campeonato”.[2] The broadcaster's own website returned a 403 to retrieval for this page, so the outlet is documented here from the association, the free-to-air partner and the business press.

What does TNT Sports Chile cover?

The scope is set by the rights agreement. The ANFP announced on 23 October 2025 an accord with TNT Sports Chile running through 2033 under which the broadcaster carries the association's football across the year, with a minimum of 42 and a maximum of 54 first-division matches a season and between 36 and 49 in the Liga de Ascenso, and under which a Copa de la Liga is added from 2026 with about 53 further matches a year.[3] The ANFP president, Pablo Milad, is quoted in the same announcement saying it “es un acuerdo muy importante, que deja atrás situaciones legales que no estaban definidas”.[3]

The same agreement altered the competitions themselves: a four-team Supercopa contested by the champion and runner-up of the first division and the two Copa Chile finalists, and the country's fourth continental place decided between the Copa Chile winner and the third-placed club.[3] Emol reported on 14 October 2025 that the settlement fixed the amount and form of payment of a 34,000 million peso debt arising from matches not played in 2019 and 2020, across the licence contract to December 2033 and with effect from January 2026.[4]

The competition carried under the agreement is the Liga de Primera, which the ANFP announced on 22 January 2026 would be played as the Liga de Primera Mercado Libre for 2026 and 2027 with sixteen clubs.[5]

How large is TNT Sports Chile's audience?

No audience figure for TNT Sports Chile could be retrieved. The Chilean television currency is the Ibope cross-media panel used in the Consejo Nacional de Televisión's Anuario Estadístico de Oferta y Consumo de TV, whose 2025 edition is built on a sample of 1,078 households and 3,259 people projected to 5,498,000 households and 16,668,000 individuals; that yearbook reports household ratings for the free-to-air channels — 5.1 points for Mega, 4.8 for Chilevisión, 4.3 for Canal 13 and 3.0 for Televisión Nacional de Chile — and carries no figure for pay television channels and no breakdown for sport as a genre.[6]

What is measurable about the reach of the rights is the free-to-air window rather than the subscription channel. From 22 January 2026 one match a week is carried on open television by Canal 13 and on that channel's platforms, under an agreement Canal 13 announced with TNT Sports.[2]

Since when has TNT Sports Chile existed?

No founding date for the channel could be retrieved from a primary source, and none is asserted here. The broadcaster's own site did not return content to retrieval for this page.

What is dated is the rights relationship. The broadcaster stated in May 2023 that it already held the ANFP rights through 2033;[1] the ANFP and the broadcaster signed the agreement settling the outstanding claims and setting the competition structure on 23 October 2025;[3] and the free-to-air arrangement with Canal 13 was announced on 22 January 2026.[2]

Why does TNT Sports Chile matter in Chile's sport?

Because the terms of its contract are also the terms of the competition. The October 2025 agreement did not only set a broadcast volume; it created a Copa de la Liga from 2026, changed the Supercopa to a four-team format and fixed how the fourth continental place is decided.[3] Emol reported that the same settlement set monthly reductions in television income for clubs — 22 million pesos for first-division clubs and 9 million for second-division clubs, with larger reductions for the three clubs earning most.[4]

The rights are stated by the holder to run to 2033 and to apply in any country, which dates the arrangement rather than describing it in the present tense.[1] Clubs reach the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana through the places the same agreement governs.[3]
