What is Sport24?

Sport24 is a Greek sport news website at sport24.gr. The Euromedia Ownership Monitor's 2025 report on Greece, published in December 2025 by researchers from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Panteion University, lists Sport24 in the portfolio of 24 Media, which it records as digital-native media under the “Direct individual control” of Dimitris Maris, with News247, Contra.gr, Ladylike and OneMan.[2] That is the monitor's record as of its publication date; no later change of ownership was retrieved.

The government's register of online press, the Μητρώο Ηλεκτρονικού Τύπου, lists www.sport24.gr under the company 24 MEDIA ΜΟΝΟΠΡΟΣΩΠΗ ΑΝΩΝΥΜΗ ΕΤΑΙΡΕΙΑ ΨΗΦΙΑΚΩΝ ΕΦΑΡΜΟΓΩΝ, at Λεωφόρος Συγγρού 162-166, Καλλιθέα, and gives as owner 24 MEDIA ΑΝΩΝΥΜΗ ΕΤΑΙΡΕΙΑ ΣΥΜΜΕΤΟΧΩΝ.[8] 24 Media's own site could not be retrieved.

What does Sport24 cover?

On 24 September 2026 the Sport24 home page led with EuroLeague basketball, reporting that Olympiacos were travelling to Vitoria with 13 players and that Panathinaikos were preparing to play Maccabi Tel Aviv. It carried the national football team's departure for Belgrade for a UEFA Nations League match against Serbia, domestic club football, transfer reports, the NBA and international football, including an item on Kylian Mbappé's boots at the Madrid derby and an NBA interview on gaming and player performance.[1]

Its section menu, as retrieved, covers domestic and international football; basketball, including the EuroLeague, the NBA and the Greek League; tennis, volleyball, handball and athletics; Formula 1 and MotoGP; a betting section; and a cars section. The page also carried links to betting operators, among them Superbet, Stoiximan, Bet365, Novibet and Bwin.[1]

The two betting brands Superbet and Stoiximan also appear in the names of domestic competitions: the Hellenic Football Federation's site names the Superbet Κύπελλο Ελλάδας, and Novasports advertises the Stoiximan Super League.[3][4]

How large is Sport24's audience?

No audited figure for traffic to sport24.gr could be retrieved. Traffic estimators are not audited measurement, and none is used here.

The market in which the site operates has been characterised by Reporters Without Borders, whose 2026 index entry for Greece states: “A few large privately owned groups like Alter Ego Media coexist alongside hundreds of news sites, which contributes to a high fragmentation of the media landscape.”[5] That is RSF's description of the whole market, not a measurement of this site. The same entry states: “The population's trust in the media has been one of the lowest in Europe for many years.” It adds: “The financial crisis of the last decade, combined with declining readership and advertising budgets, has called into question the long-term survival of many media outlets.”[5]

The Greek government's register of print and online press, the Μητρώο Έντυπου & Ηλεκτρονικού Τύπου, is run by the General Secretariat of Communication and Information under Law 5005/2022; its home page links public lists of registered print titles and websites, and publishes no audience figures.[6]

Since when has Sport24 existed?

No founding or launch date for Sport24 could be retrieved from the site or from its publisher, and none is given here. The site's own pages as retrieved did not carry an about page in the returned text, and 24 Media's site refused retrieval.[1]

The ownership record given above is dated by its source: the Euromedia Ownership Monitor's report of December 2025.[2]

Why does Sport24 matter in Greece's sport?

It is one of the online titles of a digital publisher that the Euromedia Ownership Monitor records among the country's media groups, and its coverage on the build date ran across club basketball in the EuroLeague, the national football team, domestic club football and a range of other sports.[1][2]

Monitoring bodies have published on ownership across Greek media. The Media Pluralism Monitor 2026 states: “Media ownership remains highly concentrated across sectors, with continued dominance of major actors in audiovisual, newspapers, and digital markets.” It also states: “Transparency of media ownership shows formal progress but limited practical impact, with fragmented registries, uneven enforcement, and restricted access to beneficial ownership and public funding data.”[7] Reporters Without Borders states: “The impact of the new legislation aimed at increasing transparency of media ownership and funding remains to be seen.”[5] Those are the bodies' characterisations of the market, not findings about Sport24. The Media Pluralism Monitor 2026 scores Greece at 67 per cent risk for market plurality and 62 per cent for political independence; RSF ranks Greece 86th of 180 in its 2026 index.[5][7]

The Euromedia Ownership Monitor records that Law 5253/2025 provides for a publicly accessible register of media ownership and beneficial ownership, with the National Council for Radio and Television as the competent authority.[2]
