What is SKNIS?

SKNIS is the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service. Its About page describes it as “the official communications arm of the Government of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis”.[2] It states its mission as “To provide accurate, timely, and accessible information about the policies, programmes, and activities of the Government”.[2]

The About page lists its output as daily news stories, press releases and feature articles, photographs, audio and video, and digital content published on its own website and on social-media platforms.[2] Its home page is organised by Featured, In The News, Press Releases, Notices, Ministries, Parliament and the Prime Minister's Office.[1] The pages retrieved do not name the ministry or office under which SKNIS sits, so none is named here.

What does SKNIS cover?

SKNIS's sport coverage, in the items retrieved, is the government's own sports business: policy, facilities and ministers' statements. Its home page carries no sports section.[1]

Policy. SKNIS reported on 9 February 2023 that the Ministry of Sports was implementing the National Sports Policy and Strategic Plan 2022–2026, first launched in 2020 with UNESCO funding and revised with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Thuso Group.[3]

Facilities. It reported that the Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins, told the National Assembly on 18 December 2024 that a comprehensive upgrade of the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium had begun in July 2023, and it reported spending on the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.[4] It reported on 19 December 2025 that Warner Park would mark its 100th anniversary on 16 April 2026, and quoted the government's plan for “a complete brand new Warner Park sporting facility”.[5] On 16 July 2026 it reported that the Ministry of Sports reaffirmed public access to the Kim Collins Stadium under a structured application process.[6]

Associations. It reported on 23 March 2021 that the Minister of Sports commended the St. Kitts Cricket Association, which it placed at the Conaree Cricket Centre.[7]

How large is SKNIS's audience?

No audience-measurement body publishing ratings, readership or audited web traffic for Saint Kitts and Nevis was found, and Reporters Without Borders publishes no country page for Saint Kitts and Nevis at the address its country pages use. No figure for SKNIS's website or social-media audience is given here.

Its About page lists accounts on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and WhatsApp in addition to the website; follower counts on those platforms are not audited measurement and are not used.[2]

Since when has SKNIS existed?

The SKNIS About page retrieved states no founding date and gives no history of the service.[2] No founding date for SKNIS is given here. Its site carries sports reports dated from at least 23 March 2021.[7]

Why does SKNIS matter in Saint Kitts and Nevis's sport?

SKNIS is the government's own publisher, and it is where the Ministry of Sports' statements appear in the government's own words. Its reports carry the ministry's account of the National Sports Policy and Strategic Plan 2022–2026, of spending on the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium and Warner Park, and of how access to the Kim Collins Stadium is applied for.[3][4][6]

Its report of 16 July 2026 quotes the Permanent Secretary: “The facility is not in lockdown, it is secure.”[6] Its report of 19 December 2025 quotes Minister Samal Duggins, whom it names as Member of Parliament for Saint Christopher Four, on the Warner Park centenary: “By the end of January 2026, we will unveil our series of commemorative activities to celebrate that 100th Anniversary”.[5] Those are statements of government officials published by the government's own information service.
