What is San Marino RTV?
San Marino RTV is the journalistic title of San Marino RTV Spa. The register of journalistic titles kept by San Marino's Autorità Garante per l'Informazione describes it as a “testata giornalistica Radio, TV, on-line”, names San Marino RTV Spa as its publisher, gives its seat as Viale J.F. Kennedy 13, San Marino, and its site as sanmarinortv.sm.[1] The authority's own page cites Article 28 of the law of 8 March 2023, No. 40, which requires information outlets to send it each July the names of those holding stakes in the publisher, the names of those who have funded the title and the publisher's accounts.[3]
The Comunità Radiotelevisiva Italofona, an association of Italian-language broadcasters of which the company is a member, describes it as “San Marino RTV S.p.a, concessionaria pubblica del servizio radiotelevisivo della Repubblica di San Marino”.[4] The European Broadcasting Union's members page lists San Marino RTV, with San Marino as its country.[5]
Ownership. The authority's register records the title's ownership as “Ente Radio Diffusione Sammarinese 50% RAI Radio Televisione Italiana 50%”.[1] The Comunità Radiotelevisiva Italofona states the same division in its own words: the company was founded “con un capitale sociale sottoscritto al 50% rispettivamente dall'ERAS (Ente per la radiodiffusione sammarinese) e dalla RAI.”[4] The register prints no update date. The company's own statute page could not be retrieved, and no assessment of San Marino's media by Reporters Without Borders could be retrieved.
What does San Marino RTV cover?
The Comunità Radiotelevisiva Italofona describes the company's information output as “informazione: politica, economia, cultura e sociale, dal territorio ed internazionale”. It states that since 16 June 2025 the television service has been on a single channel, 550, on Tivùsat, Sky and digital terrestrial, and it lists two radio services, Radio San Marino and Radio San Marino Classic.[4]
For sport, the Federazione Sammarinese Giuoco Calcio (FSGC) announced on 25 September 2026 that the national team's first match in League C of the UEFA Nations League, against Finland at 18:00 on 26 September 2026, would be broadcast live and free-to-air on San Marino RTV from 17:55.[6] That is the federation's announcement of one broadcast; no rights agreement or term was retrieved.
One article retrieved from the broadcaster's sport pages, undated as retrieved on 26 September 2026, reports that San Marino Calcio completed its registration for the Italian Eccellenza championship of 2026-2027 through the portal of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti.[7]
How large is San Marino RTV's audience?
No television, radio or online audience measurement for San Marino was retrieved, and none of the sources read publishes an audience figure for San Marino RTV.
The one size figure retrieved is a staff figure, not an audience figure. The Autorità Garante per l'Informazione's register of publishing companies lists San Marino RTV Spa with an “organico” of 73; the register prints no date for that figure.[2]
Since when has San Marino RTV existed?
The Comunità Radiotelevisiva Italofona states that the company “nasce nell'agosto del 1991”, and that Radio San Marino has been on air since 1993 and Radio San Marino Classic since 2004.[4] Those are that association's dates; the company's own account could not be retrieved.
The information authority's registers give 29 December 2015 as the date of entry both of the title San Marino RTV and of San Marino RTV Spa as a publishing company. That is a registration date, not a founding date.[1][2] The authority's page records a later contact: “Il Consiglio dell'Autorità Garante per l'Informazione, presieduto da Francesco Bongarrà, ha audito il 14 aprile 2025 il direttore generale di San Marino RTV, Roberto Sergio.”[3]
Why does San Marino RTV matter in San Marino's sport?
It is the title that the Comunità Radiotelevisiva Italofona describes as the public concessionaire of San Marino's radio and television service, and the broadcaster named by the football federation for the live, free-to-air transmission of the national team's League C match of 26 September 2026.[4][6]
Its ownership is recorded, not characterised: the information authority's register gives it as 50% Ente Radio Diffusione Sammarinese and 50% RAI Radio Televisione Italiana.[1]
