What is RTVA?

RTVA is the public broadcaster of Andorra.

The company is statutory.

On ownership, Article 12 lists what the company's statutes record, and its point (b) reads: “El capital fundacional és de cent milions de pessetes (100.000.000 PTA). El capital social és íntegrament estatal i no pot alienar-se, hipotecar-se, gravar-se, pignorar-se ni cedir-se de cap forma onerosa o gratuïta.”[1] RTVA's own page describes it as “una societat pública de titularitat estatal”, created by the 2000 law.[2] Reporters Without Borders' Andorra profile, which carries its 2026 index, states: “State-owned RTVA, which operates largely under government influence, co-exists with daily newspapers, led by Diari d'Andorra.”[7]

What does RTVA cover?

RTVA's site carries a news section divided into society, politics, economy and culture, and a separate sport section at rtva.ad/esports, beside weather, on-demand programmes and a schedule.[4] Its headlines are in Catalan.

The sport page, as retrieved on 26 September 2026, carried items dated up to that day, grouped by sport. Football items of 20 to 22 September covered the national team, FC Andorra in its Spanish league, and the domestic league, including “FC Santa Coloma, un líder sòlid” and “La instructora del comitè de competició dona la raó a l'Inter d'Escaldes”. Basketball items included “L'Obradoiro, un rival propici per al MoraBanc a casa”, of 26 September, and there were items on ice hockey, cycling, canoeing, the Trial des Nations in motor sport and mountain sports. The page lists Zona Esports among its programmes, with episodes from September 2026.[5]

On 20 September 2026 RTVA announced: “Aquesta temporada, RTVA va un pas més enllà en la cobertura de la Lliga nacional i oferirà dos partits en directe de cada jornada pels diferents canals d'aquesta casa.” It added that one match each week would be shown live on the web from two in the afternoon and another on television at five.[6] The item gives no rights terms.

How large is RTVA's audience?

No audited audience measurement for Andorran television or radio, and no audience figure for Andorra Televisió, Ràdio Nacional d'Andorra or rtva.ad, could be retrieved. RTVA's own pages that were read — its legal notice, its page about the company and its home page — publish no audience figure.[2][3][4] That is a limitation of the evidence, and no figure is given here.

Since when has RTVA existed?

The company dates from the law of 13 April 2000, whose text as published by the Consell General carries the header of the Butlletí Oficial del Principat d'Andorra, Núm. 24, of 17 May 2000.[1] RTVA's page about the company states that the company was created by the “Llei de la radiodifusió i televisió pública i de creació de la societat pública Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra, S.A., de 13 d'abril del 2000”, as retrieved on 26 September 2026.[2] No date for the first broadcasts of Andorra Televisió or of Ràdio Nacional d'Andorra was retrieved from RTVA or from the law.

The site is current: its home page, as retrieved on 26 September 2026, carried news dated that day, and its footer reads “©2026 Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra, S.A.”.[4]

Why does RTVA matter in Andorra's sport?

RTVA is the company that the 2000 law created to manage the public radio and television services run directly by the State, and its capital is wholly state-owned under the same law.[1] Article 2 of that law sets principles for its programming, among them “L'objectivitat, la veracitat i la imparcialitat de les informacions” and “La promoció de la llengua, així com l'execució de la missió cultural, educativa i social pròpies d'Andorra”; the law's text does not mention sport.[1]

Its sport page carries the national football team, the domestic football league, FC Andorra and MoraBanc Andorra in their Spanish competitions, and Andorran competitors in other sports, as its items of September 2026 show.[5] Its item of 20 September 2026 announced two live domestic league matches in each round for “aquesta temporada”.[6]
