What is Przegląd Sportowy?

Przegląd Sportowy is a Polish sports daily. Polskie Badania Czytelnictwa (PBC), the body that audits Polish press circulation, lists it as a paid, national daily (“Dziennik”, “Płatny”, “Ogólnopolski”) published by Ringier Axel Springer Polska Sp. z o.o. of Warsaw, with a cover price of 2.99 złoty and the website www.przegladsportowy.pl.[1]

Online, the title is merged with the sports section of the Onet portal. Wirtualnemedia.pl describes it as “sekcja sportowa Onetu (Ringier Axel Springer Polska), od kilku lat działająca pod marką Przegląd Sportowy Onet”, that is, Onet's sport section, which for several years has traded under the Przegląd Sportowy Onet brand.[2] Its pages sit on the subdomain przegladsportowy.onet.pl, which refused retrieval, so the site itself is not quoted here.

The Euromedia Ownership Monitor's Poland report of December 2025 lists Onet.pl under Ringier Axel Springer Polska and, for that group, gives the main owners as “Michael Ringier, Evelyn Lingg-Ringier and Marc Walder (10%) via Ringier AG, as well as Friede Springer and Mathias Döpfner (jointly 98% of Axel Springer SE)”.[4]

What does Przegląd Sportowy cover?

The publisher's own description on PBC's page states that the paper, “jako partner polskiego sportu”, gives fans information on every sport: “Przegląd Sportowy jako partner polskiego sportu gwarantuje kibicom wiarygodne informację na temat każdej dyscypliny dyscypliny sportowej.” The repeated word and the spelling are as printed. The same description names Michał Pol as editor-in-chief.[1] Those are the publisher's words about itself.

The title also runs an annual poll. The publisher's description states: “Unikatową wartością marki jest również Plebiscyt Przeglądu Sportowego, który już od 82 lat wyłania poprzez głosowanie kibiców Najlepszego Sportowca Polski.” That is, the Przegląd Sportowy poll has for 82 years chosen Poland's best athlete through a fans' vote; that is the publisher's own account and figure.[1] PBC's page lists an average issue of 24 pages.[1]

How large is Przegląd Sportowy's audience?

Print. PBC's audit, under the heading “Audyt PBC, Dane za okres IV-VI 2026 (suma z kwartału i średnie na wydanie)”, gives average sales of 18,171 copies per issue in April to June 2026, of which 17,374 were printed copies and 797 e-editions, and 472,439 copies sold across the quarter.[1] That is one quarter's audited figure.

Web. Web audiences are measured by Mediapanel, run by Gemius and Polskie Badania Internetu. Wirtualnemedia.pl reported on 22 June 2026, from Mediapanel data for May 2026, that Przegląd Sportowy Onet “przyciągnęła 6,16 mln internautów”, 6.16 million internet users, and its table, sourced to “Gemius/PBI, badanie panelowe”, gives Onet 6,158,592 users and a reach of 20.71 per cent, the first row of the ten it prints.[2] For the period of the FIFA World Cup, 11 June to 19 July 2026, the same title reported 7,837,398 users of Onet's sport section, a reach of 25.96 per cent, with an average of 25 minutes and 22 seconds each, against 6,684,282 users from 11 April to 19 May 2026.[3] Each is a reading of one period, for the whole section rather than for the paper.

Since when has Przegląd Sportowy existed?

No founding date could be retrieved from the publisher: the websites of Przegląd Sportowy and of Ringier Axel Springer Polska both refused retrieval, and PBC's page has no founding-year field.[1] The publisher's own statement on PBC's page, that its poll for the best Polish athlete has run “od 82 lat”, is the only dated self-account retrieved.[1] The Wielkopolska Biblioteka Cyfrowa catalogues an issue as “Przegląd Sportowy: tygodnik ilustrowany, poświęcony wszelkim gałęziom sportu: oficjalny organ K.Z.O.P.N. 1921.05.21 R.1 Nr1”, published in Kraków by Feliks Statter; that is the library's record of an issue, not the publisher's account.[7]

The online brand is more recent. Wirtualnemedia.pl states that Onet's sport section has traded as Przegląd Sportowy Onet “od kilku lat”, for several years.[2]

Why does Przegląd Sportowy matter in Poland's sport?

It is the sports daily in PBC's circulation audit, with audited sales for April to June 2026, and Wirtualnemedia.pl headlined its report of Mediapanel's May 2026 figures for sports services “Na czele Onet”, Onet at the top.[1][2] The publisher describes itself on PBC's page as “Największy dziennik sportowy, tworzony przez największy newsroom”; that is its own description.[1]

Two monitoring bodies have published on the market it sits in. Reporters Without Borders, in its 2026 entry, states: “The private media sector is relatively diverse and includes independent media outlets such as the TV channel TVN, the newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza and the news site Onet.pl.”[5] The Media Pluralism Monitor's Poland 2026 page states: “The Market Plurality area scored within the medium-high risk band.” It adds: “Media ownership transparency potentially faces a major change with a planned establishment of a national media ownership database under the new media bill (Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, 2025).”[6] Those are the monitoring bodies' characterisations.
