What is PRO TV Chișinău?

PRO TV Chișinău is a commercial television channel. The Media Ownership Monitor Moldova 2024, published by Global Media Registry and Media Guard, states: “PROTV Chișinău este deținut de compania Pro Digital SRL. Aceasta este deținută în prezent în proporție de 100% de CME Media Enterprises BV, înregistrată în Olanda.”[2] The Monitor traces the chain up through PPF Group NV to Renata Kellnerova, as it spells the name, and names two minority shareholders, Redimco SARL and Flowervale SARL, with 0.535 per cent each.[2]

Those are 2024 records. PPF Group's own page, retrieved on 25 September 2026, describes CME as a “fully owned subsidiary of PPF Group”, operating “across seven countries in Central and Eastern Europe”.[4] CME's own site, dated 2025, states that CME is “operating leading businesses in five Central and Eastern European markets: Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Romania & Moldova, Slovakia, and Slovenia”; it does not name PRO TV Chișinău.[9] No 2026 document naming the owner of PRO TV Chișinău itself was retrieved.

The Monitor describes the schedule: “Grila Pro TV conține trei buletine de știri, un talk-show politic („În profunzime”), emisiuni de divertisment („iSănătate”, „O seară perfectă” și „Gusturile se discută”), filme și seriale.” It names the sources of finance: “Sursele de finanțare ale Pro TV sunt veniturile din publicitate și din granturi accesate de la organizații internaționale.”[2] It classes the ownership as private and the coverage as national.[2]

The channel's website is protv.md, and its sport news sits at protv.md/sport.[1]

What does PRO TV Chișinău cover?

The sport section is a single news stream. Its items of 23 to 25 September 2026 covered the opening rounds of the new UEFA Nations League, including Austria, Kosovo, Malta and Andorra; a match between Curaçao and Costa Rica; the women's Champions League; the elimination of Italy from the men's European volleyball championship by Finland; and a tennis quarter-final in Seoul.[1]

Moldovan athletes appear in the same stream. On 24 September 2026 the section reported that Alexandru Paraschiv had won a bronze medal at the European elite boxing championships in Sofia after two wins, and carried the judo headline “Aur mondial pentru Moldova la Sarajevo! Constantin Brînza a cucerit titlul de campion mondial la Masters”.[1] The second report rests on that single source.

Those are three days' items. No sports-rights contract held by the channel was retrieved.

How large is PRO TV Chișinău's audience?

Television audiences in Moldova are measured by TV MR MLD, the representative of The Nielsen Company, whose monthly overviews could not be read as text. The Media Ownership Monitor Moldova 2024 lists the most-watched channels “Conform datelor din prima jumătate a anului 2024”: Cinema 1, Mega-CTC, Pro TV, Jurnal TV, Canal 5, TV 8, Moldova 1 and others. Pro TV is third in that list.[3] Its outlet page states: “Potrivit companiei Nielsen, în primele șase luni din 2024, Pro TV a avut o cotă de audiență de 4,79%.”[2] These are first-half 2024 readings.

On the web, BATI's audited ranking for August 2026, published on 5 September 2026, covers 25 sites in the gemiusAudience Moldova panel and places protv.md thirteenth, with 112,464 real users.[5] Its report for July 2026 places protv.md thirteenth, with 102,402.[8] Each is one month's reading for the whole domain, not for its sport section.

The Monitor's online page lists protv.md among the top news sites on September 2024 data from BATI and Gemius.[6]

Since when has PRO TV Chișinău existed?

The Media Ownership Monitor gives 1999 as the year PRO TV Chișinău was founded.[2] It describes the parent group in these words: “Central European Media (CME) Enterprises BV este o companie media care operează în total 46 de canale de televiziune în șapte țări: Bulgaria, Croația, Republica Cehă, România, R. Moldova, Slovacia și Slovenia. Compania a fost înființată în 1991, de Ronald Lauder și Mark Palmer”.[2]

PPF Group's own page, as retrieved in September 2026, gives CME 47 television channels in seven countries.[4] The two counts come from documents of different dates.

Why does PRO TV Chișinău matter in Moldova's sport?

It is one of the channels the Media Ownership Monitor lists among the most-watched in Moldova on first-half 2024 data, third in its list, and its website is one of the 25 sites in BATI's audited ranking for August 2026.[3][5] It carries a daily sport news stream in Romanian that reports both international football and the results of Moldovan athletes.[1]

Its ownership, as the Monitor recorded it in 2024, runs through a Dutch-registered group that operates television channels in several Central and Eastern European countries.[2]

Reporters Without Borders ranks Moldova 31st of 180, with a score of 74.77, in its 2026 index, and states: “Freedom of the press and the right to information are guaranteed by law, and best practices are encouraged by a journalistic code of ethics.”[7]
