What is Polsat Sport?

Polsat Sport is the sports brand of the Polsat television group: a set of television channels and the website polsatsport.pl, which on 25 September 2026 described itself in its page description as carrying “Najnowsze wiadomości sportowe z kraju i ze świata”, the latest sports news from Poland and the world.[1] Nielsen's data for July 2026, as Press.pl reported them, list the channels separately, each tagged “(Grupa Polsat Plus)”: Polsat Sport 1, Polsat Sport 2, Polsat Sport 3 and Polsat Sport Fight.[4]

The Euromedia Ownership Monitor's Poland report of December 2025 records the television brand Polsat under the company “Cyfrowy Polsat (Grupa Polsat Plus)”, with the main owners given as “Zygmunt Józef Solorz (62.04%, also via TiVi Foundation), Nationale-Nederlanden Powszechne Towarzystwo Emerytalne S.A. (6.40%), Tobias Markus Solorz (1.57%, also via Tobe Investments Group Limited)”.[7] The company's own shareholder table, last updated on 22 December 2025, gives the TiVi Foundation 60.47 per cent of the capital of Cyfrowy Polsat S.A. and 69.13 per cent of the votes, held through Reddev Investments Limited, and records Zygmunt Solorz in the foundation's register of beneficial owners as its founder and first beneficiary. The two sources give different percentages for different things, capital and votes against direct and indirect holdings.[3]

What does Polsat Sport cover?

On 25 September 2026 the website's navigation listed football, volleyball, tennis, basketball, motor sport, handball, combat sports, winter sports, speedway, esports and other sports. Its top items that day concerned Poland's semi-final against Slovenia at the men's European volleyball championship, which was in progress, and a canoe slalom European title.[1]

In volleyball, the men's league, run by Polska Liga Siatkówki S.A., plays from 2026/27 as the TAURON Liga, and its site, to which plusliga.pl redirects, names Polsat Sport as broadcaster for that season.[6]

How large is Polsat Sport's audience?

Television audiences in Poland are measured by Nielsen, whose Polish site publishes no Polish channel data; web audiences are measured by Mediapanel, run by Gemius and Polskie Badania Internetu. The figures here are as trade titles reported them.

Television. Press.pl reported on 16 August 2026, from Nielsen data without out-of-home viewing, that Polsat Sport 1 had 1.12 per cent of all viewing among viewers aged four and over in July 2026, down from 1.69 per cent in July 2025; Polsat Sport 2 had 0.2 per cent, Polsat Sport 3 0.12 per cent and Polsat Sport Fight 0.04 per cent. Among viewers aged 16 to 59 it gives Polsat Sport 1 0.7 per cent.[4] That is one month's reading, in a month when the FIFA World Cup was on TVP.

Web. Wirtualnemedia.pl reported on 22 June 2026, from Mediapanel data for May 2026: “Niżej są witryna Polsat Sport (2,02 mln użytkowników oraz 8 minut i 38 sekund średniego czasu korzystania)”, that is, 2.02 million users spending an average of 8 minutes and 38 seconds.[8] That is one month's reading.

Since when has Polsat Sport existed?

The owner dates the channel to 2000. Grupa Polsat Plus, in a page of 4 December 2017 marking 25 years of Telewizja Polsat, states that the sitcom “Świat według Kiepskich” first aired on its channel in the spring of 1999 and Polsat Sport “a rok później”, a year later.[2] That is the owner's own account; no exact launch date was retrieved from its pages or the broadcaster's.

The shareholder record of the parent is dated separately: the company's shareholder table was last updated on 22 December 2025.[3]

Why does Polsat Sport matter in Poland's sport?

The men's volleyball league names Polsat Sport as its broadcaster for 2026/27.[6] In Nielsen's July 2026 data, as Press.pl reported them, Polsat Sport 1 had 1.12 per cent of all viewing against TVP Sport's 2.66 per cent and Eurosport 1's 0.34 per cent.[4] In Mediapanel's May 2026 data, as Wirtualnemedia.pl reported them, its website had 2,018,196 users, a reach of 6.79 per cent.[8]

Its parent has been the subject of a government measure recorded by a monitoring body. Reporters Without Borders, in its 2026 entry for Poland, states: “The channels TVN and Polsat were declared by Donald Tusk's government as companies of strategic importance in order to protect them from takeovers that could be hostile to the country.”[9] That is RSF's account. The instrument is a regulation on the list of protected companies: the Chancellery of the Prime Minister announced on 18 December 2024 that Telewizja Polsat Sp. z o.o., Cyfrowy Polsat S.A. and TVN S.A. were among six companies added to the “wykazu podmiotów podlegających ochronie”, with effect from 1 January 2025, and stated: “Bez zgody rządu nie będzie można ich przejąć lub kupić.” That is, they cannot be taken over or bought without the government's consent.[5]
