What is Oneplay Sport?
Oneplay Sport is a group of pay television channels devoted to sport, with a website at oneplaysport.cz whose menu opens with sections for the Chance Liga, the Tipsport ELH and the Liga mistrů, the UEFA Champions League.[1]
Its operating company is O2 TV. The Czech News Agency, ČTK, reported on 9 October 2025: “Televize Nova od prosince získá 100 procent ve společnosti O2 TV, která provozuje placené sportovní kanály Oneplay Sport a Premier Sport.” That is, TV Nova would acquire 100 per cent of O2 TV, which operates the pay sport channels Oneplay Sport and Premier Sport, from December; ČTK reported that O2 TV had until then belonged to the operator O2 Czech Republic, and it gave the Rada pro rozhlasové a televizní vysílání, the broadcasting regulator, as the source of the announcement.[3] MediaGuru reported on 23 April 2026 that “Nova od prosince získala 100% podíl ve společnosti O2 TV” — that Nova had held 100 per cent of O2 TV since December — and that the regulator had consented to a merger of the two companies: “Na základě rozhodnutí regulátora O2 TV zanikne a jejím právním nástupcem se stane TV Nova.” That is, O2 TV ceases to exist, with TV Nova as its legal successor.[9] No record of the merger's entry in the commercial register was retrieved.
The channels sit inside a wider group. The Euromedia Ownership Monitor's 2025 report for the Czech Republic states that the content side of the PPF group “is represented by the Netherlands-based company CME Media Enterprises B.V.”, and that O2 “also operated an IPTV service, but in March 2025 it merged with the TV Nova streaming service Voyo, and now both operate under the Oneplay brand.”[5] MediaGuru's report of 26 February 2025 described the PPF group as “majitel O2 a TV Nova”, the owner of O2 and TV Nova.[2]
What does Oneplay Sport cover?
Football. Oneplay Sport's report of 11 June 2025 on the Chance Liga's television audience states: “Tendr byl vypsán na pět let, tedy do sezony 2028/29.” — the league's rights tender was for five years, up to the 2028–29 season.[4] On 25 September 2026 its site carried an item of 20 September previewing a Chance Liga round in which Slavia hosted Plzeň.[1]
Ice hockey and other sport. The site's menu carries a section for the Tipsport ELH, the men's ice hockey extraliga, one for the UEFA Champions League and one for other sport. On 25 September 2026 it carried a preview of that evening's extraliga match between Olomouc and Kometa Brno.[1]
The channel line-up. MediaGuru, a trade site, reported on 26 February 2025 that O2's two existing sport channels would be replaced by four new stations, Oneplay Sport 1 to 4.[2] ČTK's report of 9 October 2025 gave TV Nova, after the acquisition, 16 channels devoted to sport broadcasts and programmes: “šest stanic Nova Sport, osm kanálů Oneplay Sport a dvě stanice Premier Sport” — six Nova Sport stations, eight Oneplay Sport channels and two Premier Sport stations.[3]
How large is Oneplay Sport's audience?
No audited audience figure for the Oneplay Sport channels was retrieved. ATO-Nielsen's table of the twenty channels with the largest share of viewing in 2025, as published by MediaGuru, lists no Oneplay Sport channel; its lowest row is ČT :D at 0.91 per cent.[6] SPIR's NetMonitor landscape for August 2026 lists Nova Group with 3,078,240 real users, a reach of 35.4 per cent of internet users aged 10 to 99, and has no separate row for Oneplay or Oneplay Sport.[7]
The figures that were retrieved are the broadcaster's own. Its report of 11 June 2025 calls the Chance Liga “nejsledovanější ligovou soutěží v programu televize Oneplay Sport”, the most-watched league competition in Oneplay Sport's programming, and states of the 2024–25 season: “Celkově měla rekordní zásah 34 milionů diváků” — a cumulative reach of 34 million viewers across the season. It states: “Nejsledovanějším utkáním sezony napříč všemi sporty bylo říjnové pražské derby Slavia–Sparta s 532.000 televizních diváků.” That is, the October derby between Slavia and Sparta, with 532,000 television viewers, was the most-watched match of the season across all sports.[4] Those are the broadcaster's account of one season, not an audited share.
Since when has Oneplay Sport existed?
The name dates from 2025. MediaGuru reported on 26 February 2025 that the old O2 channels would stop broadcasting on 9 March 2025 and that the new Oneplay channels would start on 10 March 2025.[2] The Euromedia Ownership Monitor records the merger of O2's IPTV service with Voyo under the Oneplay brand in March 2025.[5]
The ownership changed later the same year. ČTK reported on 9 October 2025 that TV Nova would acquire O2 TV, the channels' operator, from December 2025.[3] MediaGuru reported on 23 April 2026 that it had done so, and that the regulator had consented to the two companies' merger.[9] The start date of O2's earlier sport channels was not established from a retrieved source.
Why does Oneplay Sport matter in Czechia's sport?
Oneplay Sport is, by its own account, the holder of the television rights to the top football division, the Chance Liga, through the 2028–29 season, and it carries the men's ice hockey extraliga.[4][1] ČTK's report of the acquisition put its channels in a group of 16 sport channels under TV Nova from December 2025.[3]
Monitoring bodies have published on ownership in this market. The Euromedia Ownership Monitor's 2025 report places CME, TV Nova's parent, on the content side of the PPF group and O2 and Cetin on its infrastructure side.[5] The Media Pluralism Monitor's 2026 page for the Czech Republic lists among its findings: “Persistently high concentration of media ownership across offline and online markets, combined with limited effectiveness of the regulatory framework in addressing consolidation.”[8] That is the monitor's characterisation.
