What is maltafootball.com?
Maltafootball.com is a website on football in Malta and Gozo. Its footer reads “© 1996-2026 antoine busuttil”, and it describes itself as “A comprehensive guide to football in Malta”.[1] Its About page states: “This website went online in August 1996, just a few months after the internet was introduced in Malta.” It adds: “Originally it was just a section inside an unofficial Rabat Ajax website.”[2] Those are the site's own accounts.
It publishes releases from the governing bodies beside its own reports. On 1 July 2026 it published, under the byline “Press Release”, the Malta Premier League's announcement of VBET as title sponsor of the 2026/27 league.[3] On 11 May 2024 it published, under the byline Malta FA, a preview of the IZIBET FA Trophy Final between Floriana and Sliema Wanderers.[6]
What does maltafootball.com cover?
The About page states that the site covers “the Malta Premier to the National Amateur League, all the other competitions organised by the Malta Football Association and the Gozo Football Association.”[2] That is its own description of its scope.
Its dated items bear it out for September 2026. On 23 September 2026 Antoine Busuttil reported that the Malta Premier League had rescheduled the VBET Malta Premier Match Day 6 fixture between Gzira United and Mosta to 14 October at the Tony Bezzina Stadium, and two Match Day 8 fixtures.[4] The same day he reported that “The Malta Football Association released the fixtures for the Round of 32 of the BOV National Cup”, for clubs of the BOV National League I, BOV National League II and BOV GFA Second Division.[5] The home page, as retrieved on 26 September 2026, carried a report dated 24 September 2026 on the national team's UEFA Nations League match in Andorra, “Malta turn defeat into victory in Andorra”, and items dated 25 September 2026 on coaching changes at Zabbar St. Patrick.[1]
It also reports Maltese clubs in UEFA competition: on 2 June 2026 it set out Floriana's entry to the Champions League and the entries of Marsaxlokk, Hamrun Spartans and Valletta to the Conference League for 2026/27.[7] VBET and IZIBET are named here only as the sponsors' names that the bodies' releases print.
How large is maltafootball.com's audience?
No audited web-audience figure for the site could be retrieved. The Broadcasting Authority's audience surveys, listed from March 1990 to September 2025, are surveys of broadcasting audiences under titles such as “TV and Radio Audiences in Malta”.[8] The site publishes no traffic figure of its own on the pages read.[1][2]
Since when has maltafootball.com existed?
By its own account, since August 1996. The About page states: “The off-spring of the Rabat Ajax site soon developed to become the Maltese Soccer Web Site”, and: “On its fifth birthday in August 2001, the Maltese Soccer Web Site became maltafootball.com.” It adds: “The site celebrated its twenty fifth anniversary in August 2021.”[2] Those dates are the site's own and could not be checked against an independent record.
The present position is dated: the home page, as retrieved on 26 September 2026, carried items dated 23 to 25 September 2026.[1]
Why does maltafootball.com matter in Malta's sport?
It is the place where the Malta Premier League's title-sponsorship announcement of 1 July 2026 and a Malta FA preview of the 2024 FA Trophy final were published, and it reports fixtures and results across the Maltese and Gozitan divisions and Maltese clubs' UEFA entries.[3][6][4][7]
Its About page states that it is “still the only site that provides a comprehensive guide to football in Malta and Gozo”.[2] That is the site's claim about itself, and it is attributed to the site. No monitoring body's assessment of it was found.
