What is lie:zeit?

lie:zeit is a free magazine for Liechtenstein with a news site, lie-zeit.li. The Stiftung Zukunft.li study of October 2025 states: “die Zeit-Verlag Anstalt gibt das kostenlose Magazin «Lie:zeit» heraus.”[1] The site's own imprint names Medienbüro Oehri & Kaiser AG, Essanestrasse 116, Eschen, as the entity behind it, lists Herbert Oehri and Johannes Kaiser under the heading Vorstand, and gives an Öffentlichkeitsregister Vaduz registration number, FL-0002.302.513-7.[2] The site's archive page carries the line “Zeitschrift für Liechtenstein und die Region” and the footer “© 2026 - Medienbuero Oehri & Kaiser AG”.[7] The two sources name different entities, and both are reported as printed; the register entry itself was not retrieved. A figure in the Stiftung Zukunft.li study, sourced to the Government for 2010 to 2024, shows the Zeit-Verlag Anstalt among the recipients of support under the Medienförderungsgesetz, without printing amounts as text.[1]

What does lie:zeit cover?

The site publishes general news for Liechtenstein and the surrounding region, and its sport section is headed sport:zeit.[3] On 26 September 2026 its sport items included the opening of Rhiblok, reported as Liechtenstein's first climbing hall, a preview of FC Triesenberg's season and a report headed “FC Schaan peilt ersten Saisonsieg an – FC Vaduz II beim Tabellenletzten”. Items of 25 September 2026 reported the Nations League match “UNL: Liechtenstein – Litauen 0:2 (0:0)” and two under-19 internationals; an item of 24 September 2026 concerned the Pioneers ice hockey team.[4]

That is one reading of the section. It covers the national football team, Liechtenstein clubs playing in the Swiss regional leagues, and facilities.[4]

How large is lie:zeit's audience?

No audited circulation or web audit for the title was retrieved. The representative survey of media use commissioned by the Government, by Thomas Milic, Philippe Rochat and Julian Meier, with fieldwork from 27 September to 15 November 2023 among permanent residents aged 16 to 79 and 1,390 usable responses, counts about a fifth of the population, 21 per cent, as the magazine's regular readership, and reports that about two-thirds, 69 per cent, read it at least now and then.[5] The authors report that readership was lower than in their 2018 survey, and that the magazine's regular readers were for the most part satisfied with its journalistic quality, though less so than in 2018.[5] These are self-reported figures for the title as a whole, from autumn 2023.

The same survey places sport fourth among the topics respondents follow in the media, at 46 per cent, without a breakdown by outlet.[5]

Since when has lie:zeit existed?

No founding year for the magazine was retrieved from its site, its imprint or the Stiftung Zukunft.li study.[2][1] The site's online archive lists monthly entries from September 2015 to September 2026; that is the span of the online archive, not a founding date.[7] Its e-Paper page, read on 26 September 2026, showed issue number 148 of the magazine.[8] Among its dated items, on 28 February 2023 it reported that the general meeting of the Liechtensteiner Volksblatt had decided unanimously, on the board's proposal, to discontinue that daily.[6] Its latest items were dated 26 September 2026.[3]

Why does lie:zeit matter in Liechtenstein's sport?

It is one of the titles for which the government-commissioned survey published a readership figure, at 21 per cent, and its site runs a dedicated sport section covering the national team and the country's clubs.[5][4] The survey's authors record that the Liechtensteiner Volksblatt was discontinued in March 2023.[5]
