What is Koha?

Koha is the name under which the KOHA group publishes online at koha.net. The site's footer states: “Kjo faqe kontrollohet dhe menaxhohet nga KOHA”. It refers to the “Grupit KOHA, në emër të krejt njësive që e përbëjnë (Koha Ditore, KohaVision, Koha.net, Botimet KOHA, KOHA Print dhe ARTA)”.[1]

The site's impresum, as retrieved on 24 September 2026, names Flaka Surroi as owner, Brikenda Rexhepi as editor-in-chief and Arsim Maxhera as sport editor. It gives the address as “Aneksi i ish-Radio Prishtinës (kati i parë), Xhorxh Bush p.n., 10000 Prishtinë”.[2] That is the outlet's own listing, as read on 24 September 2026.

The Media Ownership Monitor Kosovo, run by BIRN Kosovo and the Global Media Registry, gives a second record. Its entry for Grupi Koha Sh.p.k., last changed on 12 December 2023, lists Flaka Surroi as owner of 100% and states that the group has been owned by her since 2006. It states: “Kompania është e angazhuar në industrinë televizive, shtypit, dhe botimit të librave.” It lists the group's media as Koha Ditore, KohaVision (KTV), Koha.net, Botimet KOHA, KOHA Print, TV ARTA and the bookshop café Kafe libraria KOHA.[6]

What does Koha cover?

Sport sits at koha.net/sport, with sub-sections for Futboll, Basketboll, Luftarake and Sporte të tjera.[3] On 24 September 2026 the section led with the national football team. Its items covered ticket prices for a match against Austria and the Nations League match against Ireland, and a basketball item on Peja. It also carried international football.[3]

The Ireland preview, by Faton Polisi, was published on 23 September 2026. It opens: “Kosova nuk është përballur asnjëherë me Irlandën në futboll.” It places the League B group 3 match at the Fadil Vokrri stadium on the Thursday at 20:45.[4]

How large is Koha's audience?

No measured audience figure for koha.net exists to report. The Media Ownership Monitor Kosovo states: “There is no agency providing public data on media audience measurements in Kosovo.”[7]

Reporters Without Borders writes in its 2026 entry for Kosovo: “Online news portals include strong brands such as KOHA, BIRN, Kossev or Kosovo 2.0, the latter being one of the few media outlets to publish both in Albanian and Serbian.”[5] That is RSF's characterisation, not a measured figure.

Since when has Koha existed?

The group's own pages give no founding date: the site's about page returned no content, and the impresum gives no date.[2] The Media Ownership Monitor Kosovo gives the group's history. It states: “Veton Surroi themeloi revistën e përjavshme 'Koha' më 1990 e cila në vitin 1997 u transformua në gazetën e përditshme, 'Koha Ditore'.” It also states: “Në vitin 2000 u themelua edhe stacioni televiziv KTV (KOHAVISION).” On the website it states: “Në vitin 2009, në kuadër të kësaj shtëpie mediale është hapur edhe portali Koha.net”.[6] Those dates are the monitor's account; the group's own pages do not give them.

Why does Koha matter in Kosovo's sport?

It is the online title of a group that, by its own footer, also includes a daily, Koha Ditore, and a television unit, KohaVision.[1] It names a sport editor in its impresum.[2] On the build date its sport section led with the national team's Nations League fixture and domestic basketball.[3]

Reporters Without Borders writes of private media in Kosovo: “In addition, through their owners, private media newsrooms are exposed to interference from powerful political or business groups.”[5]
