What is the ITTF World Rankings?

The official world ranking of table tennis, published weekly by the International Table Tennis Federation on a rolling points system in which results decay as they age.[1]

What does it cover?

Men's and women's singles and doubles, plus mixed doubles and youth rankings, drawn from results across the World Table Tennis circuit, continental championships and the world championships.[1] [2]

Why does it matter?

Because entry and seeding at every level of the professional circuit run off it, and because Olympic qualification in the sport is substantially a ranking exercise — which makes a dated ranking position one of the most precise statements of standing available in table tennis.[1] [2]
