What is the IOF's ranking and results systems?
Orienteering's governing body runs two connected systems. Eventor is the official event-management platform — calendar, entries, start lists, results, split times, athlete IDs and licences — and the IOF World Ranking is a separate service covering World Ranking Events and the World Cup, revised under a new scheme in 2019 and again in 2026.[1] [2]
What does it cover?
All four disciplines — foot, ski, mountain bike and trail orienteering — with results imported by organisers from timing software in a standard XML format. Only IOF member organisations may run events in the system, and the same platform underlies several national federations' own Eventor instances.[1] [2]
Why does it matter?
Because orienteering is the rare sport where the split times are the analysis: electronic punching at each control records not just a finishing time but the route choices and the seconds lost at each leg. Eventor is where that granularity is published, and it supplies the athlete IDs the world ranking depends on.[1] [2]
