What is ინტერპრესნიუსი?

ინტერპრესნიუსი is a Georgian news agency. Its Georgian pages give the name in the header as საინფორმაციო სააგენტო „ინტერპრესნიუსი“; its English pages give it as News agency Interpressnews.[1][2] It publishes in both scripts, on separate language paths of the same site.

A news agency and a newspaper are different things, and so is a broadcaster: this outlet is on the list as a general news agency that carries sport, not as a sports title. Its own Georgian navigation runs politics, law, society, world, region, economics, sport, military, culture, announcements, conflicts, exclusives, interviews and opinion.[1]

The agency's own ჩვენს შესახებ page states that it has been part of the Palitra Media holding since 2005; the monitoring body Media Meter records it in the same holding and names the registered entity as შპს „ახალი ამბები“, with an ownership breakdown it dates to February 2015.[7][8] The Georgian National Communications Commission's published material covers broadcasters rather than agencies, and carries no entry for it.[5]

What does ინტერპრესნიუსი cover?

It covers general news across the sections listed above, with sport as one heading among them.[1]

The sport heading is worth stating precisely, because who publishes a section is part of the fact. In the Georgian navigation the სპორტი heading does not open a section of the agency's own site: it links out to sportall.ge, a separate sports site.[1] The English edition carries a Sport category link in its own navigation.[2] No statement of any commercial or editorial relationship between the two publishers was retrieved from either of them.

The agency's other headings show what it is. Politics, law, society, world, region, economics, military, culture, announcements, conflicts, exclusives, interviews and opinion sit alongside the sport heading in the Georgian navigation, and the English edition runs a narrower set of the same categories.[1][2] That is the coverage of a general agency, and sport reaches its readers through it as one heading rather than as a desk with its own published output.

How large is ინტერპრესნიუსი's audience?

No audited measurement of the agency's audience could be retrieved. The figure that exists is the agency's own: its ჩვენს შესახებ page states 45,000 to 70,000 daily unique visitors measured on Google Analytics, which is a self-reported figure and not an audited currency.[7]

The Georgian traffic counter TOP.GE does not carry interpressnews.ge among the twenty entries in its sport category, which is a sport-category listing rather than a general one; the page also states that its statistics are generated from the previous day, so any figure on it is a single day's reading.[3] The site the agency points its own sport heading at, sportall.ge, heads that listing with 20,896 hits and 10,105 unique visitors on the day read; that measures the other site and not this one.[3]

For television the European Journalism Centre's Media Landscapes report names TV MR Ge as the source cited for channel shares, and reports a 2017 National Democratic Institute poll in which 72 per cent of respondents said they get news primarily via television; that is a market-wide survey figure and not a measurement of this agency.[4]

Since when has ინტერპრესნიუსი existed?

Two dates are published and they do not agree. The agency's own ჩვენს შესახებ page states that it was founded on 19 December 1999; that is the agency's account of itself.[7] The monitoring body Media Meter's profile of the agency gives 2002 instead.[8] Neither date is adopted here.

No regulator's register entry settling it was retrieved: the Georgian National Communications Commission publishes on broadcasters, their conduct and their financial reporting, not on news agencies.[5]

Why does ინტერპრესნიუსი matter in Georgia's sport?

Its place on this list is as the general news agency that carries a sport heading, and the documented fact about that heading is where it points: in the Georgian edition it routes readers to sportall.ge.[1] That is a published routing decision by a general agency, and it routes readers to a site outside its own holding: Media Meter and the agency's own page both place the agency in Palitra Media, which is also reported as the publisher of the sports title ლელო.[7][8]

Published monitoring of that market is reported here in the monitor's own words. Reporters Without Borders placed Georgia 135th of 180 countries in its 2026 World Press Freedom Index, with a score of 40.77 and indicator scores of 28.02 political, 34.46 economic, 46.92 legal, 49.60 social and 44.85 security. It writes under its media-landscape heading that “the media landscape is diverse and, at the same time, highly politically polarised”, and under its political heading that authorities increasingly refuse to engage with outlets that criticise them, “resorting to censorship, smear campaigns and intimidation”.[6] Neither sentence is addressed to this agency.
