What is Infobae?

Infobae is a digital-native news site published from Buenos Aires. Its own terms of use name the publisher as THX Medios S.A., registered with the Inspección General de Justicia under correlative number 5071685, with its registered office at Humboldt 1550 in the City of Buenos Aires[1].

No primary source establishing the site's launch date could be retrieved for this page. The Spanish-language Wikipedia entry, used here for background only, places the launch in 2002[2].

What does Infobae cover?

General news, with a sports desk publishing at infobae.com/deportes. Sports output is football-weighted — the Liga Profesional, the national teams, the Copa Libertadores — alongside basketball, tennis, rugby and motorsport.

Its business desk is also a working source on the sports industry: it reported the 26 May 2026 sale of TyC Sports to the Werthein group's holding company, with the stake, the buyer and the price[3].

What are Infobae's reach and standing?

TotalMedios, reporting Comscore's News and Information category for Argentina, placed Infobae first in June 2026 on 13,492,618 unique users, ahead of TN on 11,212,955, La Nación on 10,970,267 and Clarín on 10,744,505[4]. The same ranking had it first in January 2026 on 12,666,957[5], and Comscore's May 2020 measurement, reported at the time, put it first on more than 23 million unique users[6].

Infobae states that the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism's 2026 survey, carried out by YouGov with fieldwork in January and February 2026, gave it 38 per cent weekly reach in Argentina, ahead of TN's cable signal on 36 per cent and TN online on 35 per cent, and that this was its eighth consecutive year at the top[7]. That account of the survey is the outlet's own.

Comscore measures the general news category, so these figures cover the whole site rather than the sports desk alone.

Since when?

The publisher of record is THX Medios S.A., whose Inspección General de Justicia registration number and registered address are published in the site's own terms of use[1]. The registration document does not carry a date of first publication, and no primary source for the launch year could be retrieved; Spanish-language Wikipedia, used here for background, gives 2002[2].

What can be dated from retrieved sources is the audience record. Comscore placed the site first among Argentine news sites in May 2020[6], in January 2026[5] and in June 2026[4], and the outlet dates its own run at the top to eight consecutive years as of June 2026[7].

On 25 August 2026 the outlet announced that it would remove Comscore's measurement tag from its site from 1 September 2026, which means the series above has a stated end point[8].

Why does Infobae matter in Argentina's sport?

It is the largest Argentine news site by Comscore's measure[4] and it is independent of both Grupo Clarín and S.A. La Nación, so it supplies a third publisher for any Argentine sports claim that needs corroboration.

It is also the outlet the other three on this list are measured against: the Comscore rankings for January and June 2026 both place it above TN, La Nación and Clarín[4] [5].

Its business reporting on sport is a practical part of that. The 26 May 2026 account of the TyC Sports transaction named the buying holding company, the 50 per cent stake and the USD 25 million price, and is one of two independent same-day reports of the change of control[3]. See broadcast rights.
