What is the Grenada Broadcasting Network?
The Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) is a television and radio company in Grenada. Its site, gbn.gd, as retrieved on 26 September 2026, offers GBN TV with Live TV and Live Sports options and names three radio services: HottFM98, GBN Gospel and Klassic K105. It gives its address as Observatory Road, St. George's.[1]
One Caribbean Media Limited, a media group, lists the company in note 2(v), Subsidiaries, of its 2025 annual report as Grenada Broadcasting Network Limited, incorporated in Grenada, with principal activities of media services and ownership of 84% in 2025 and 84% in 2024.[4] The same report describes GBN as continuing “to strengthen its role as a key platform for emerging soca talent through its flagship event, Spice Up the Carenage.”[4] That is the owner's own account.
Sports items are published on a path of the parent site, gbn.gd/sports.[2]
What does the Grenada Broadcasting Network cover?
As retrieved on 26 September 2026, GBN's sports page listed items dated from August 2025 to April 2026. The most recent were “CADET CORPS SHINES AT CARIFTA”, dated 9 April 2026, and “HERITAGE CLUB”, dated 1 April 2026. Earlier items included “INTERCOL PREPARATIONS” and “INTERCOL DAY 2”, both dated 19 March 2026, on the secondary schools' inter-col championships; “BLUE BUBBLES BACKS ATHLETES”, dated 16 March 2026, on support for young athletes; “CHRISTIAN SPORTS LEAGUE”, dated 24 February 2026, on a church-run league's second season at the Grand Anse hard court; “NLA SUPPORTS SCHOOL SPORTS”, dated 19 February 2026; and “BILLFISH TOURNAMENT BEGINS”, dated 27 January 2026.[2]
The CARIFTA item refers to the 53rd CARIFTA Games, which the meeting's results host lists on 4 to 6 April 2026 at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium, St. George's.[5]
The home page carries a Live Sports option alongside Live TV.[1] No document setting out which sports rights GBN holds was retrieved.
How large is the Grenada Broadcasting Network's audience?
No television or radio audience measurement for Grenada, and no audited traffic figure for gbn.gd, was retrieved. One Caribbean Media's 2025 annual report lists GBN among its subsidiaries but gives no audience figure for it in the passages read.[4]
Reporters Without Borders' country page address for Grenada returned no page on 26 September 2026. Freedom House's Freedom in the World 2026 report scores Grenada 3 out of 4 on the question “Are there free and independent media?”; the page as retrieved carries no explanatory text under that score.[7]
Since when has the Grenada Broadcasting Network existed?
One Caribbean Media's history page, under the heading Our History, dates the network's present form to 1998: “CCN acquired a 60% interest in the then government-owned Grenada Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), and the entity was renamed the Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN)”.[3] CCN is the name One Caribbean Media's history uses for the acquiring company. No date for the founding of the Grenada Broadcasting Corporation itself was retrieved from a primary source.
The 2025 annual report, listed on One Caribbean Media's annual reports page, gives the holding as 84% in both 2025 and 2024.[6][4] The two figures are of different dates: 60% is the 1998 acquisition as the history page records it, and 84% is the holding the 2025 report lists. No document explaining the change between them was retrieved.
Why does the Grenada Broadcasting Network matter in Grenada's sport?
GBN is the successor of the government-owned Grenada Broadcasting Corporation, as One Caribbean Media records it, and in 2025 and 2024 was 84% held by that group.[3][4] Its sports page in 2026 reported on the CARIFTA Games hosted in St. George's and on the secondary schools' championships.[2][5]
Its site offers television and three radio services under one brand, with a Live Sports option on the home page.[1] No measured audience figure for it was retrieved.
