What is ΕΡΑ ΣΠΟΡ?
ΕΡΑ ΣΠΟΡ is the sport radio station of ΕΡΤ Α.Ε., the Greek public broadcaster. Its page sits on a path of ΕΡΤ's audio platform, ertecho.gr/radio/eraspor, and carries the line “© Copyright 2026 - ΕΡΤ Α.Ε.”[1] The parent's site lists ΕΡΑ ΣΠΟΡ in its sport navigation beside ertsports.gr.[2]
ΕΡΤ's identity page states: “Η ΕΡΤ Α.Ε. είναι νομικό πρόσωπο ιδιωτικού δικαίου, που λειτουργεί με τη μορφή Ανώνυμης Εταιρείας, για την παροχή της δημόσιας ραδιοφωνικής, τηλεοπτικής, και διαδικτυακής υπηρεσίας.” It adds that the company operates television stations, radio stations, regional stations and digital services, among them ERTFLIX and ERT echo.[3]
The company was established by Law 4173/2013. Article 1(1), in its original text, constitutes a legal person of private law in the form of a société anonyme “για την ελληνική δημόσια ραδιοφωνία και τηλεόραση, καθώς και τη διαδικτυακή (ίντερνετ) δραστηριότητά τους, που έχει έδρα την Αθήνα”.[4]
What does ΕΡΑ ΣΠΟΡ cover?
The station page, retrieved on 24 September 2026, gives two frequencies, 101.8 FM and 100.9 FM. Its schedule for the day opened with “Γκόλ από τα Αποδυτήρια” from 08:00 to 10:00, presented by Ilias Drymonas and Yiannis Santorinaios, followed by “Η Φανέλα με το... 10” from 10:00 to 12:00, presented by Vasilis Papanikolaou and Fotis Parolas.[1]
The page gives the station's address as Μεσογείων 432, Αγία Παρασκευή, and a contact address at [email protected].[1]
Article 1 of Law 4324/2015 provides: “Η Ε.Ρ.Τ. Α.Ε.
How large is ΕΡΑ ΣΠΟΡ's audience?
No radio audience figure for ΕΡΑ ΣΠΟΡ from a published audience survey could be retrieved. The Nielsen Audience Measurement tables retrieved cover television only; for the week of 7 to 13 September 2026 they give ΕΡΤ's sport television channel, ΕΡΤ 2 ΣΠΟΡ, a 1.8 per cent share of viewing among the population aged four and over, and 2.2 per cent for the week before.[6] Those figures are for the television channel, not for the radio station, and each is one week's reading.
The station page publishes no listener figure of its own.[1]
For comparison of scale within the same company, Nielsen's list of the top 20 television programmes for 13 to 19 July 2026 gives its first place to the second half of Spain–Argentina at the 2026 World Cup on ΕΡΤ 1 on 19 July, with 2,309,000 viewers among the population aged four and over and a 67.9 per cent share. That is a single television broadcast, not a radio figure.[9]
Since when has ΕΡΑ ΣΠΟΡ existed?
No launch date for ΕΡΑ ΣΠΟΡ could be retrieved from ΕΡΤ's own pages, and none is given here. The company that now operates it was established by Law 4173/2013, published in ΦΕΚ Α' 169 of 26 July 2013, as ΝΕΡΙΤ-Α.Ε.; Article 1(2) gave that name, «ΝΕΑ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΡΑΔΙΟΦΩΝΙΑ, ΙΝΤΕΡΝΕΤ ΚΑΙ ΤΗΛΕΟΡΑΣΗ Α.Ε.».[4]
ΕΡΤ's identity page refers to Law 4173/2013 as the company's founding law and records that Law 4972/2022 (Α' 181) provided for such companies to draw up a mission statement.[3] Article 1 of Law 4324/2015, ΦΕΚ Α' 44/29.4.2015, gave the company the name «ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΡΑΔΙΟΦΩΝΙΑ ΤΗΛΕΟΡΑΣΗ ΑΝΩΝΥΜΗ ΕΤΑΙΡΕΙΑ (Ε.Ρ.Τ. Α.Ε.)».[5]
Why does ΕΡΑ ΣΠΟΡ matter in Greece's sport?
It is the sport radio station of the public broadcaster, which the parent's site lists alongside its television sport channels, ΕΡΤ2 ΣΠΟΡ and ERT Sports 1.[2] Its schedule on 24 September 2026 opened with two sport programmes.[1]
Monitoring bodies have published on the independence of ΕΡΤ as a company. Reporters Without Borders, in its 2026 index entry for Greece, states: “The government spokesperson is responsible for overseeing the public media, which endangers their editorial independence.”[7] The Media Pluralism Monitor 2026 states: “Public Service Media (ERT) faces very high risks to independence, with longstanding political influence over its editorial line and governance structures, including politically driven appointments and dismissals of senior management.”[8] Those are the bodies' characterisations.
On the regulator, the same monitor states: “The independence and effectiveness of the National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV/ESR) are undermined by politically contested appointment procedures, structural underfunding, limited resources, and constraints on its regulatory capacity.”[8] RSF states that the regulator, “accused of being slow and inefficient, has not been significantly overhauled by either the current or the previous government”.[7] RSF ranks Greece 86th of 180 in its 2026 index, with a score of 55.05.[7]
